The Supplementary Cup served up a tense affair against a team we had drawn with twice already this season. In the first half and kicking downhill Beechy backed Parkwyddn into their own half and camped there for most of it, eventually the pressure told when Barkley Pope flicked the ball home from a Denholm Brooks corner, a great finish and something we have been working on. Beechy continued to dominate the game but despite our best efforts we couldn’t find the goals the pressure deserved and that was going to cost us.
Into the second half we started on the back foot and before we knew it Parkwyddn had equalised with a scrappy finish. Beechy found a foothold after that point but it was much more end to end now but as Barkley Pope broke through midfield and put a ball into the box it stuck a defenders flailing arm and the ref rightly gave a pen. Denholm Brooks stepped up and tucked it away into the bottom corner. It continued to be an even game very end to end but Parkwyddn equalised after a wonder strike into the top corner and some scrappy defending meant they went a goal up with 10 minutes to go.
The boys worked hard to get the equaliser but we just couldn’t find the net.
A disappointing result but a top effort considering we had 3 players missing and no subs. We go again next week.
Man of the Match performance from Joel Momoh again, he works tirelessly in midfield every week and today was no exception.
