- Junior Section Match Details 17th/18th Feb 2018
Beechfield United Under 16's Storm lost 4-2 at home to Flixton Junior Falcons and this defeat ended Beechy's impressive seven match unbeaten run in the Salford and District Football League. In a slightly below-par team display goals for the Storm in this Division 1 fixture were scored by Kaiden Craven and Tom Gorton. Man of the Match was Jack Bailey.
Missing numerous key players were the Under 13's Thunder who were away to De La Salle Reds. After making a slow start to the match Beechy managed to find their form and had raced into a 4-1 lead at the break. United finally got a stronger grip on the game and started to open up the De La Salle defence after some great link-up play. Following a gutsy and total committed performance Sebastian Higson was voted Man of the Match. Prince Idusuyi (Hat-Trick) Callum Snaith (2) William Whipday (2) and Jake Glass got the goals.
The Under 13's Tornadoes Manager Oscar Courtney was very proud of all his players after their Division 2 home game with Stretford Victoria. When the teams met previously three months ago the Tornadoes suffered a heavy defeat though there has been a vast overall improvement by all the Beechy boys in recent games. The match was an action packed affair and after producing a super display the Tornadoes certainly didn't deserve to be on the wrong end of a 7-6 score line. The highlight of the game came via Alan Kay who scored all six goals but the Man of the Match award went to the whole team.
Back in action following two blank Saturday's were Beechy Under 12's Tornadoes (9v9) who were away to Winton FC Yellows. In this Division 2 encounter the Tornadoes recovered from a goal and the football they played was just brilliant to watch. Jack Fitton netted Beechy's equaliser in a game they dominated but a winning goal eluded the Tornadoes and they had to settle for a score draw. Receiving the Best Player award was Jacob Sayburn.
In the Challenge Cup the Under 12's Storm met Irlam JFC at Beech Farm Playing Fields but were beaten by their opponents in the quarter-final tie. Tawonga Chirwa collected the Storm's Man of the Match honour.
Playing away in the Development Group Blue Division the Under 11's Typhoon (9v9) struggled with a heavy pitch and a strong Swinton Juniors Tigers team who won the match. There were a few fine individual performances in the Beechy ranks especially from Man of the Match Jamie Withington who was a colossus at the heart of the defence.
There was a goal feast in the Development Group Yellow Division fixture between the Under 11's Lightning (9v9) and Prestwich Junior Tigers. David Olidoy, Joel Odejesi, Kyle Stafford and Robert Harris were on target with goals for Beechy who lost an eleven goal thriller. The Man of the Match award was given to Liam Peers.
Switching their Challenge Tournament tie with Barr Hill Clubs to Salford Sports Village were the Under 11's Storm (9v9) and all the boys produced an impressive all-round display on the artificial surface. Beechy keeper George Heywood made a couple of confident saves before Josh McLoughlin gave the Storm the lead. The Barr Hill No11 who was always a threat with numerous mazy solo runs saw one fine effort hit the crossbar. Georgi Georgiev added Beechy's second goal following a neat through ball by Reece James and United always looked capable of scoring at the end of every attack. An own goal gave Beechy a three goal lead then Caden Gibson and Georgi Georgiev added further goals before half time. Barr Hill played better in the second half but the Storm continued to have a greater share of the ball and created lots more chances. A quick counter-attack led to Barr Hill getting their consolation goal but a brilliant individual goal by Caden Gibson completed the scoring and put the seal on a well deserved Beechy victory. The team's Star Player was Alfie Gee.
For the second time in fourteen days the Under 10's Hurricanes played Ladybridge Lions in the Development Group Green Division and this time Beechy had home advantage. William Schofield collected the Man of the Match accolade and on target with the Hurricanes only goal was Lewis Royle.
Also in action against a Ladybridge FC outfit were Beechy Under 10's Tornadoes. On their opponents Astroturf Pitch the Tornadoes produced a decent performance but they lost this Development Group Red Division game. Throughout the contest Beechy created enough chances to have forced at least a draw. Ashley Tonge received the Man of the Match award.
After producing their best performance so far this season the Under 9's Tornadoes were rewarded with a fully deserved victory over Flixton Junior Lions. In an excellent all-round display Beechy's match winning goals were scored by Ethan Harris and Tom Robinson. Following this Development Group Blue Division away game voted the Tornadoes Best Player was Ebosele Oguname.
Man of the Match Dillan Caldwell, Jamie Maher, Joshua Whitehead, Prestley Smith, Daniel Robinson and Jaiesh Devani-White were the Under 9's Hurricanes goalscorers on Sunday morning at Beech Farm Playing Fields. The Hurricanes celebrated victory over Manchester Maccabi Eagles in the Development Group Yellow Division.
Currently on a three match unbeaten run are Beechy Under 8's Storm who's latest Development Group Blue Division game was away at Swinton Junior Lions. In a great first half performance a superb finish by Riley Haney gave the Storm the lead then faced with a one-on-one with the keeper was Harry Whitter who fired the ball into the top corner of the net for the second goal. A misplaced pass at the end of the half led to Swinton Lions reducing the arrears and early in the second half another wayward pass gifted the Lions an equaliser. Three minutes later a free kick was hammered over the Beechy keeper and the hosts grabbed the lead. But from the restart the Storm dominated the match and twice shots hit the post and five one-on-ones were all saved by the Lions keeper. Just when it appeared as if Beechy's luck had run out a pass out from the keeper was booted up field by a defender, the ball bounced once and via a spectacular strike Ronnie Pinckney-Thompson hit it straight into the net from his own half for a stunning last minute equaliser.
Playing two games in twenty four hours were the Under 8's Lightning who started with a Saturday morning home fixture against Swinton Junior Spartans. Oliver Eckersley, Deenraj Singh, Oscar Mather and Broadie Mundy got the goals and producing an outstanding display was defender Jaylon Salisbury. Man of the Match was goalkeeper Brandon Booth who made a string of classy saves. Then on Sunday Beechy had an away game with South Manchester Tigers and made it Development Group Yellow Division winning double. The goals came via Deenraj Singh, Broadie Mundy and Charlie Swift. Sharing the Man of the Match award were Deenraj and Broadie.
Due to holidays and sickness the Under 7's Storm only had six players available for their Friendly Match with De La Salle Reds. But all the Beechy players produced displays full of both effort and endeavour and were rewarded with goals from Bobby Harrison and Connor O'Sullivan.
Games involving the Under 8's Tornadoes, Under 13's Storm, Under 15's Tornadoes & Under 17's Tornadoes were postponed. The Under 10's Storm & Under 14's Tornadoes had no fixture.
