At Salford Sports Village Beechfield United Saturday Morning Senior Team secured a 5-2 deserved win over Medlock Rangers and thanks to the three points moved up one place in the Division 1 table. United kicked-off the match and were a goal up in the 2nd minute after a pass by Kyle Wray was misjudged by a couple of Medlock defenders and Tim McQueeney had the simple task of side footing the ball into the net. Left back Kyle Wray was involved in several overlapping runs down the left flank as Beechy created some really attractive attacking play. Following a bad clearance by a United defender there was a half chance to equaliser for a Medlock forward but Beechy keeper Chris Pollock made a fine reflex save. A great defence splitting pass by right back John Bolton sent Max Leonard racing clear but the referee judged the Beechy man to have strayed into an offside position.

Suddenly United had a brief period when they wasted possession far too easily and this forced some heavy defending from John Bolton, Daniel Eckersley, Matthew Swift and Kyle Wray. But Beechy quickly regaining their composure and a superb move involving Kyle Wray, Roy Owen and Wes Pierce set-up Max Leonard who's first time effort hit the crossbar. Medlock's No11 came close to getting the visitors back on level terms via a shot from 25 yards that curled wide of the target. A brilliant move between Ben Donohue, Max Leonard and Tom Stott in the 20th minute was rewarded with a second goal for United courtesy of another easy finish for Tim McQueeney. Via more easy on the eye soccer Beechy kept the pressure on their opponents who basically relied on the counter-attack and was no real surprise when United went 3-0 up.

After thirty two minutes producing a great piece of skill was Wes Pierce who's initial pinpoint cross was met by Roy Owen and with minimum fuss he dispatched the ball into the net. United were hungry for more goals and seven minutes later they increased their lead and once again Kyle Wray featured in another top-quality move down the left flank. The Beechy defender won the ball close to the halfway line and angled a perfectly weighted long pass that was instantly controlled by Roy Owen who displayed superb footwork before ghosting beyond a Medlock defender and blasting the ball past the keeper. A disputed decision resulted in Medlock Rangers pulling a goal back when they were awarded a free kick and their No14 casually curled the ball into the corner of the net. Kyle Walton replaced Tom Stott at the start of the second half but United were slow in finding their rhythm and it was Medlock Rangers who saw more of the ball.

At the end of a positive move Medlock's No8 fired the ball over the crossbar and playing with more confidence Rangers forced some vital defending from United's back four that included Man of the Match Matthew Swift. But with a bit more quality in their ranks Beechy worked harder in all areas and moving the ball around with a lot more accuracy on the artificial surface created a few decent chances. Following great link-up play between Wes Pierce and Roy Owen United had a goal disallowed for offside against John Bolton. Using the permitted roll-on roll-off rule United made another substitution when Tom Stott rejoined the action in place of Tim McQueeney. Involved more in the second half was Chris Pollock who displayed some safe handling on numerous occasion plus good distribution of the ball.

Both Roy Owen and Max Leonard wasted easy chances before the latter was on target with United's fifth goal when he controlled a cross from Wes Pierce and held off a defenders strong challenge before slotting the ball low into the net on eighty minutes. Another superbly executed free kick by Medlock's No14 completed the scoring inside the last few minutes.
