- Junior Section Match Details 24/2/2024
Once again the continuous spell of wet weather forced several games to be postponed but those games that survived produced some winning results.
*Playing away against Wythenshawe Celtic Beechy Under 12's THUNDER (9v9) made it two wins in the Supplementary Cup with a 6-1 victory. On a tight Astroturf Pitch the Beechy Boys controlled the tie straight from the kick off and putting pressure on the hosts never allowed Wythenshawe hardly time on the ball. Thunder opened the scoring through Roman Jackson who after receiving the ball on the half volley just inside the Wythenshawe half hit it first time and watched it bounce over the hosts keeper and into the net. Shortly after Ajab Fakeeh put Beechy 2-0 up with a left foot volley from the edge of the area then Wythenshawe reduced the arrears as the hosts came more into the game. But Thunder replied with their third goal when from a goal kick Beechy keeper Freddie Jones played the ball forward to the unmarked Kirstian Georgiev who slotted through the Celtic keepers legs for 3-1. Near the end of the first half Thunder won a free kick on the edge of the area and Ajab Fakeeh fired the ball home for the fourth goal. The second half started in a similar pattern and Beechy added goal number five via a teriffic move. Jacob McGoff who had been a nightmare for the Celtic defenders throughout the game won the ball near the corner flag and after powering into the area pulled it back for Ajab Fakeeh who unselfishly rolled it across to Kristian Georgiev at the back post and he made it 5-1. Ajab Fakeeh completed his hat trick and the scoring when he went on a mazy run and after playing a lovely 1-2 with Jacob McGoff finished from a tight angle.
*The in-form Under 10's LIGHTNING made it four games unbeaten after their local derby game with Moorside Rangers Green. Starting on the front foot Rangers controlled the opening five minutes but once Lightning got a foothold in the game they dominated play in all areas. Following numerous missed chances Beechy took the lead when Junior Davies hammered the ball home via a great volley from a corner. Lightning missed a few more chances before the break but they were happy to be ahead going into half time. The second half belonged to Beechy with Crewe Reeves, Kayson Gregg and George Richardson bossing the midfield and Eshan Shanahan was on target after finding the top corner of the net with a shot from the edge of the box. With only a couple of minutes remaining George Richardson added Lightning's third goal when he curled the ball high into the net. Beechy's Play of the Match was Junior Davies for his fantastic opening goal and great workrate all over the pitch.
*Also extending their current unbeaten run to four games in the Salford and Districts Junior League were Beechy Under 9's STORM who were at home to Old Trafford Juniors in the Supplementary Tournament. Kade Doyle scored both goals for storm who won the tie by the odd goal in three plus there were assists from Seth Barber and Isaac Hargreaves. Beechy's other players involved in the game were Alfie Heighway, Harry Heathcote-Clare, Jacob Foster, Oscar Pugh, Oscar-Bobby Berry, Harry Chambers, George Savage and Bobby Lowe.
*The Under 16's HURRICANES had no Bolton Bury and District League fixture so a friendly match was arranged with AFC Monton. The sixteen Beechy players who all played their part in securing a 5-2 victory were Yafet Ogubay, Brandon Cini, Danny Gregory, Michael Munden, Kane Wood, Ethan Mangwiro, Callum Hanvey, Noah O'Connor, Oliver Sheridan, Mason Gowenlock, Tanatswa Chirwa, Nicholas Green, Liam Woodward, Oghenekaro Iboje, Ausou Eltomseneen and Glenn Tepa. The Hurricanes raced into a 3-0 half time lead before AFC Monton reduced the arrears with a couple of goals but Beechy were able to regain their grip on the game in the second half to guarantee the win. Yafet (2) Brandon, Kane and Karo scored the goals.
*For their first Supplementary Cup group game Beechy Under 15's HURRICANES were at home to Wythenshawe Wanderers. Despite some decent football from both teams only a few chances were on offer and there were still no goals midway in the first half. Beechy made a few substitutions but they couldn't make the breakthrough and it remained goalless at half time. The Hurricanes went close to taking the lead when Oliver Nangle chased a long ball forward into the penalty area and played it across to Henry Errington who's superb effort brought an incredible save from the Wythenshawe keeper. The second half was a scrappy and tense affair and it was still 0-0 after eighty minutes forcing the teams to take penalities to decide the winner. Alfie Rostron, Finlay Unsworth and Oliver Nangle were successful with their spot-kicks but it was Wythenshawe who won the shoot-out 4-3. Sophiyulah Bakare was named Hurricanes Man of the Match.
