- Junior Section Match Details 23rd February 2019
In the Bolton Bury and District League Beechfield United Under 15's Tornadoes played their first Section D game of 2019 when they met Winton FC at Stott Lane. The Tornadoes were previously in action on Saturday 15th December 2018 and a lack of games contributed to a lacklustre performance defensively. After conceding three quick first half goals Beechy never recovered and suffered a 4-1 defeat. Clyde Barker netted the Tornadoes consolation goal and voted Man of the Match was Fernley Davies.
Also at Stott Lane the Under 13's Storm met a good Chorley FC outfit and ended up on the wrong end of a 4-2 score line. In Section C Beechy competed well early in the match but fell behind when the visitors were awarded a dubious opening goal. Chorley quickly scored a second goal after a Beechy player mis-controlled the ball that fell perfectly to the visitors centre forward who confidently made it 2-0. As they battled back Storm had chances to reduce the arrears but they were still two goals down when the referee ended the first half. Following a change of formation Beechy put renewed pressure on their opponents and were rewarded when Tawonga Chirwa punished a mistake by the Chorley keeper and the Storm were back in business. Unfortunately United's joy was short lived as Chorley bounced back and with two quick goals raced into a 4-1 lead but Beechy fought back yet again and Tawonga Chirwa was on target via a great solo goal making it 4-2. During the last five minutes the Storm huffed and puffed but couldn't breakdown the visitors solid defence. Man of the Match was Harrison Davies who produced an assured performance after coming back from injury. Beechy must learn to do the basics better and put in a more determined performance.
After a two week lay-off the Under 13's Tornadoes were glad to be back in action in the Salford and Districts League. At home to Deans Sports in Division 3 Beechy played throughout with just ten men and the Tornadoes took the lead after eight minutes thanks a great finish from Adam Wood. Deans found an equalising goal but the Tornadoes regained control and added two more goals courtesy of Bradley Oliver and Rafael Silviera and Beechy managed to contain Deans for the twenty minutes of the second half. As the saying goes the Tornadoes players ran their socks off to keep their opponents at bay but as tiredness crept in Beechy lost concentration for ten minutes and allowed Deans to take the lead. The Tornadoes who's Man of the Match went to Bradley Oliver deserved at least a draw.
The Under 12's Typhoon (9v9) had a comfortable victory following their Division 2 home game against Flixton Junior Cougars. There were hat-tricks for Sonny O'Brien and Reece James plus two goals by Joseph Bothamley and one each from Daniel Hesketh and Sam Henderson. Man of the Match went to Sonny O'Brien who brought a new dimension to the team calmly bringing the ball out of defence which added to his goal scoring exploits. Beechy won the match 10-1.
Beechy Lightning (9v9) United's other Under 12's team also it double figures. In a one sided contest at Cadishead Town David Olidoy (hat-trick) Jake Barrington (hat-trick) Joel Idusuyi (2) Daniel Williams and Robert Harris scored the goals as Lightning maintained fourth place in the Division 3 table. Named as the teams Star Player was Leo Gradwell.
On a bright sunny Saturday morning Beechy Under 11's Tornadoes (9v9) made the trip to Old Trafford Jaguars and though depleted in personal as ever were up for the challenge but dating back to early September 2018 the Tornadoes undefeated run finally came to an end. On a newly cut pitch Old Trafford got an early goal but Lucas Walker equalised via a precise finish. Old Trafford regained the lead though once again the Tornadoes bounced back and this time Edward Hughes made it all square and the teams shared four goals at the break. The hosts pacey forwards created chance after chance but the scores remained even until Old Trafford eventually edged a goal up. Undeterred Beechy equalised for a third time courtesy of Owen Hogben after great work and a precise pass from Finley Fairhurst. Despite the tackles, blocks and saves by defenders Ashley Tonge, Charlie Chute, Aiden Lawton and keeper Freddie Wardle they couldn't prevent Old Trafford from scoring two more goals that sealed the victory. Striker Finley Fairhurst was awarded Man of the Match and the Tornadoes next challenge will be to start another run of performances and results. The recent performances are a true reflection on the teams hard work a development something the whole squad should be very proud of.
At home to local rivals Moorside Rangers Yellows the Under 11's Storm (9v9) took the lead in this Yellow Group fixture. Leading marksman Oliver Cowley opened the scoring but Storm failed to capitalise on their early advantage and eventually lost the match. Collecting the Best Player award was Joshua Kilfoyle.
Facing physical opponents in the Blue Group were the Under 10's Hurricanes who met Barr Hill Diamonds away. Beechy's opponents were good on the ball and held a two goal lead at half time but the Hurricanes fully deserved to be going into the break on level terms. Beechy showed great determination in the second half to get back into the game and force a draw. Man of the Match Oliver Hall, Alfie Rostron, and Jamie Maher were on target for Beechy who shared eight goals.
Earning themselves a fully deserved victory were Beechy Under 10's Tornadoes. From start to finish in the Blue Group away game with Barr Hill Hearts the passing of the ball by Beechy was outstanding and communication between the players was awesome. Tornadoes keeper Asa Brown made some fantastic saves and goals from Reece Cartwright (hat-trick) Charlie Backhouse and Matty Cox guaranteed the win.
A solo goal by Charlie Smethurst was scant consolation for the Under 9's Thunder boys in their Yellow Group home game against Urmston Town Storm. Taking receipt of the teams Man of the Match honour was Ryan Vu.
Producing their best performance of the season in the Blue Group were the Under 9's Lightning. Every Beechy player was praised for their own brilliant individual display following victory over FC Bridgewater at Beech Farm. Deenraj Singh got Lightning's match winning goal and goalkeeper Brandon Booth who made some brilliant saves was Man of the Match.
Playing their first 7-a-side game the Under 8's Storm boys were a joy to watch as they learned about keeping their shape and retaining possession. In the away game at Ladybridge Lions Kingsley Walters and Conner O'Sullivan scored the goals that secured Beechy victory in the Red Group. Harry Wallis was named Man of the Match after a polished performance.
Following an enforced three week break the Under 7's team made a poor start against an energetic Moorside Rangers side who scored four goals in the first five minutes. In Division 1 Beechy issued a brilliant response with Oliver Cooper on target via a superb long range screamer that reduced the arrears. In the second half Beechy defended with much more authority and went close to another goal with an effort by Daniel Wharton hitting the post and Jacob Wood's shot going just wide following a mazy run. Taking advantage of long kicks from their goalkeeper Rangers added further goals despite the best efforts of Sophie Price and Thomas Brady. Some clever footwork from Aiden Gradwell set-up Oliver Cooper and he netted Beechy's second goal in the final minutes.
