- U/17's Hurricanes Match Details February 2025
Beechfield United Under 17's Hurricanes played Be The Change twice in the Bolton Bury and District League in February 2025.
*After four successive defeats Beechy Under 17's HURRICANES were back to winning ways on Saturday 1st February 2025 when they secured a 3-2 victory over Be The Change FC. On a big but uneven playing surface the match produced a lively start and both Oliver Sheridan and Enough Olague were involved in some quick passing moves. Be The Change took a gifted lead on ten minutes following a piece of wasted Beechy possession then several counter-attacks by the hosts forced Ethan Mangwiro and Liam Woodward to produce some vital Beechy defending. At times the Hurricanes were guilty of not putting enough pressure on the ball and goalkeeper James Kavanagh made a couple of top-class saves. Michael Munden replaced Aiden Lawton when Beechy made their first substitution prior to the Hurricanes finding an equalising goal through Nahom Berhame and raising their work rate all over the pitch Beechy were rewarded with a 2-1 lead via Luke Kennedy who added a decisive finish from inside the area. Yafet Ogubay had a great chance to score after another quality move while at the other end of the pitch twice Tanatswa Chirwa made two superb ball winning tackles. The hosts No7 continued to produce some positive surging runs down the flank as Be The Change moved the ball around with pace. Once again the Hurricanes were rewarded following another passage of great play when Luke Kennedy again supplied the finish as he put Beechy 3-1 up.
The pace of the game remained fast and furious as the second half began and the hosts keeper was quickly called into action. More good defending from Liam and Enoch kept the lively Be The Change fowards at bay while both Ausou Eltomseneen and Alfie Gridlestone worked hard in midfield. A piece of slack Beechy defending gifted Be The Change their second goal but the Hurricanes responed when the forced three successives corners. Ethan Mangwiro, Paul Connelly, Mason Gowenlock, Noah O'Connor, Glenn Tepa and Aiden Lawton all contributed to this quality Hurricanes display. Late in the game three vital saves from James Kavanagh denied the hosts the chance of forcing a draw as the Hurricanes produced some excellent defending in the last few minutes.
*The Under 17's HURRICANES met Be The Change again on Saturday 22nd February 2025 at Littleton Road Playing Fields and Beechy who were involved in a very physical encounter won the game 4-0. Straight from the kick-off in this Section B fixture Be The Change had the Hurricanes camped in their own half as they used all the tricks to get into the Hurricanes heads and it was working. But during a breakaway attack the ball was switched from left to right and Oliver Sheridan took one touch and saw his shot parried by the keeper though the ball rebounded to Luke Kennedy who put Beechy 1-0 up. Be The Change continued to keep the pressure on the Hurricanes and Beechy had two players sent to the sin bin. The Hurricanes were awarded a free kick just over the halfway line and Tanatswa Chirwa superbly floated the ball over the keeper and Beechy led 2-0 a scoreline they held at the break.
The second half contined at the same physical intensity and Be The Change almost reduced the arrears when a ferocious shot hit the crossbar. A through ball from Glenn Tepa set-up Karo Ibodje who scored the Hurricanes third goal via a smart finish into the bottom corner of the net. Another defensive error gifted Be The Change a chance of a goal but once again the ball rattled the crossbar. The Hurricanes went 4-0 up with a second goal for Karo Ibodje who created the chance before burying the ball into the net. Man of the Match was shared by Tanatswa Chirwa for a great defensive display that included keeping many of the oppositions attacks at bay and Karo Ibobje for an immense performance upfront.
