POSTED: January 08 2022 15:09:40 By Keith Long - Junior Section Match Details 8/1/2022

*Another spell of adverse weather played a major part in the postponement of all but four games regarding Beechfield United's first set of Junior Section fixtures in 2022.

*The Bolton Bury and District Section D in-house derby game between Beechy Under 15's Lightning and Typhoon ended with a 6-1 win for the latter. Will Bentham opened the scoring for Typhoon after he used his pace to get past Lightning's defenders then Jamie Wighington made it 2-0. Following a corner Ronan Mullen netted Typhoon's third goal via a header prior to Daniel Williams reducing the arrears from the penalty spot. Lightning threatened to get themselves back into the game with a good period of play but with his second goal Ronan Mullen edged Typhoon 4-1 up. Freddie Latham slotted home goal number five and Daniel Hesketh completed the scoring after his first effort had been blocked. The whole Typhoon team shared the Man of the Match award while Lightning's award went to goalkeeper Lucas Wood who can be proud of his performance which included several great saves.

*Back in the Salford and District League the Under 13's Hurricanes played a Friendly Match against De La Salle Reds. On a cold, wet and windy Saturday morning the Beechy Boys were ready for what would be a tough thirty five minutes each way. After making a solid start the Hurricanes went a goal down when Beechy's defenders failed to deal with a bouncing ball and a De La Salle striker bundled it into the net. The visitors made it 2-0 after a goal kick dropped into the path of a De La Salle forward who caught the home defence flat-footed and left unchallenged supplied an easy finish. Following great work on the left wing by Henry Errington the De La Salle goalie made a good save following a superb effort from Alfie Rostron. Luca Mobey made a couple of excellent saves and the Hurricanes who had been forced to defend for long periods started to look more dangerous going forward as half time approached.

*Early in the second half De La Salle were awarded a generous penalty after a fairly innocuous-looking challenge and following the spot-kick Beechy went 3-0 down. The Hurricanes conceded an unlucky fourth goal and when the visitors started to dominate the match Beechy produced some great defending and Taylor Hales-Cummins almost denied De La Salle their fifth goal which flattered the visitors. As they came roaring back the Hurricanes created some decent chances and a great effort by Henry Errington forced a brilliant save from the De La Salle keeper before Beechy were rewarded with their consolation goal. Jamie Maher was on target when he got on the end of a corner and from the penalty spot and sent a bullet header into the net giving the keeper no chance. Hurricanes Man of the Match was Luca Mobey for his stunning saves in the first half. Result Hurricanes 1 v De La Salle 5.

*In their Bolton Bury and District League Section D away game with top of the table team Ladybridge Pumas the Under 14's Hurricanes were victim of numerous abysmal decisions and suffered a 4-0 defeat.
