Beechy U/7's Thunder Match Report Salford and Districts League Yellow Division (6/1/2024)
*Beechfield United U7 Thunder v Wythenshawe Wanderers
Goalscorers Louis, Rio, Reni
Man of the Match - Angelo!
A well armed oposition today with a larger squad was always going to prove a good test for young Thunder team today.
In perfect footballing conditions with a soft frost slowly losing it's grip against the Winter Sun the Wythenshawe Wanderers were quickly wondering what was happening with Thunder team taking a nice shape and attacking and defending from the front.
Reni and Rio's attacking was excellent, testing the defence again and again but unable to break them down. The Wanderers defence was well organised and an excellent keeper was going to make this a difficult day up front.
Good midfield workrate from Jose and the forwards ensured the matchplay was kept high up the field and Thunder gave very little room for the Wanderers to play.
Defence was solid with Angelo closing down any attacks and the distribution with both feet was great to see.
A stalemate ensued with battles throughout the field and some strong challenges but Thunder still keeping the play up the field leaving Bobby trying to stay warm back in net!
Louie and Elliot came on and were raring to go, attacking and stretching the Wanderers defence and testing the keeper with some lovely football.
The Wanderers couldn't sustain the attacks and it was only a matter of time before the ball was in the net, after some sublime Glenn Hoddle like movement and skill Louis put the ball in the back of the net and made it 1-0!
Thunder continued to press and kept the play high with Bodie heavily engaged and attacking with Louie ensuring pressure was kept on the Wanderers defence, their keeper and defenders doing extremely well to keep Thunder from inflicting heavy damage.
Rio was unlucky to get on the scoresheet a number of times through the half but with his tenacity, strength and skill he was able to get the ball in the net and make it 2-0!
Bobby was able to warm up and teamed up well with Bodie with some good attacking and they was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet. Again solid defending from the wanderers and regular rotation of their team keeping them fresh to try and deal with the Thunder onslaught.
Louie and Elliot continued to press with some lovely breaks and use of the pitch, high speed attacks from winning the ball in midfield. Elliot continuing to stretch their defence with his breaking runs, the backup and fight from the defence and midfield with some total football in play shows what could be in store for the future of this team and the boys are really coming together.
Bobby was unlucky again with a good strike and the Wanderers were able to break and create a one on one, the away crowd were sure of a goal but the role changing super Louie now in net made a save of the game - the ball coming back out to the forward Louie was able to quickly prepare for another shot and pulled off another world class save with a full stretch diving save!
Good composure and defending from Bodie and Elliot showing cool character and enabling Thunder to re-group and play again with a number of good attacks and Reni unlucky to have a brace in the net and showing great courage with a left footed effort.
It didn't take long for Reni to get another chance but this time showed great skill and composure to leave himself in position to fire off a great strike and make it 3-0!
More persistence from Rio and Jose ensured the play was kept firmly in the opposition half and sustained attacks just too much for the wanderers to handle.
First to the ball defending high up the pitch and a shot from Angelo signed off a really good team performance with all the Boys clearly enjoying the challenge and really putting the effort in.
