The prospect of an extension to the season loomed large for several teams in Beechfield United’s Junior Section. Once again all fixtures scheduled to be played on grass pitches were postponed but ten teams were in action and those games took place on Astroturf Pitches.

Beechfield United Under 15’s Predators travelled to play Whitworth Park at Manchester Academy High School and had to settle for a 1-1 draw. In the Tameside Football League Manager Gareth Kent was forced to field a weakened team but Beechy had the luxury of holding a 1-0 lead at half time thanks to a goal from Man of the Match Joseph Lydiate. Whitworth Park played better in the second half and their equalising goal came from the penalty spot.

The Under 11’s Thunder kicked-off the New Year away at Eccles College against Moorside Rangers Blue. The first half was evenly balanced with both teams rewarded with a goal apiece. Midway through the second period Rangers took the lead and on a small pitch Beechy somehow lost control of the match. Rangers then added further goals following some fine counter-attacking soccer. Reiss Miller was United’s keeper in the first half and goalscorer Jake O’Sullivan took over as keeper for the second half.

Producing another impressive all-round display were Beechy Under 9’s Hurricanes who met Moorside Rangers Purple at Moorside High School. A super high energy performance by the Hurricanes included nine quality goals. On target were Dominic Roaden, Georgi Georgiev, Josh Clough, James Taylor, Reilly Happy and Oliver Coles.

Also in action at Moorside High School were United’s Under 9’s Storm. In the Development Group Purple Division Beechy faced neighbours Moorside Rangers Red. The Storm who eventually lost the match named Oliver Percival as their Best Player.

At Tempest Road Bolton the Under 9’s Typhoon were credited with an excellent performance following the away game at Ladybridge Lightning. Harley Bentley and the outstanding Freddie Latham were rock solid in defence while Sonny O’Brien was a constant menace up front but United’s Star Player was Joseph Bothamley. A fine effort by Daniel Hesketh hit the post but Beechy earned themselves a consolation goal scored by Milonga Mututa.

KD Sports Centre in Swinton was the venue for the Under 8’s Tornadoes versus AFC Monton Yellow match. In the Development Group Red Division some good football was played by both teams and on target with all United’s goals was Joshua Taylor who also collected the Man of the Match Award.

Away to Parkwyddn Phoenix in the Development Group Division were Beechy Under 8’s Storm. This entertaining contest produced nine goals and helping himself to a hat trick (2 goals direct from corners) was Joshua Kilfoyle. The Storm’s Man of the Match was Mikey Walsh.

The Under 7’s Storm switched their home game against De La Salle Devils to Ordsall Leisure Centre and Beechy came out on top following an eight goal thriller. Man of the Match Kylan Twigg and Lucas Harris scored the goals.

Having been promoted to the Development Group Green Division the Under 7’s Tornadoes began 2016 with a tough match against Parkwyddn Predators. At Salford Sports Village George Rowbotham netted a consolation goal for the Tornadoes who’s Star Player was Reece Cartwright.

Man of the Match Ethan Harris and Charlie Townley fired in the goals for the Under 7’s Hurricanes who’s latest Development Group Red Division fixture was against local rivals Moorside Rangers Yellow.
