POSTED: January 13 2020 22:08:21 By Keith Long - In-Form Reserve Team Earn Impressive Victory

Hosting Springhead FC's A team at Littleton Road on Saturday 11th January 2020 Beechfield United Reserves maintained their recent good form with a fully deserved 4-1 victory.

The visitors opened the scoring within ten minutes with the help of a strong gusty wind after a cross from thirty yards the ball swerved in mid-air and ended up in the back of the Beechy net. Springhead attempted to use the windy weather to their advantage but once United got a foothold in the game they were rewarded with an equalising goal. Beechy's central defender Louis Lawrence delivered a brilliant twenty yard pass that carved open the Springhead defence and Kennan Switzer instantly controlled the ball and slotted it past the keeper for 1-1. Gradually United dominated this Manchester Football League Division 5 contest and took the lead on the stroke of half time when Ben Shiels was brought down in the area and Callum Davies scored from the resulting spot-kick.

The windy conditions continued to cause problems for both teams in the second half and with about fifteen minutes to go Beechy were reduced to ten players following an altercation. After a slight stoppage Springhead now with the extra player attacked United at every opportunity but to no avail and United soaked up a period of pressure before going 3-1 up. A superb pass from Danny Lee found Alex Gorny in space and he added a neat finish then with just minutes remaining Keenan Switzer completed the scoring following a great piece of individual skill. Left back David McCarthy who had a excellent ninety minutes was voted Beechy's Man of the Match.
