Beechfield United's three Junior Section teams who are registered with the Bolton Bury and District Football League played their first games of 2018. The Under 17's Tornadoes remained on top of the Section B table following a 2-2 draw at Hindley Juniors. Joe Furlong gave Beechy the lead but Hindley Juniors responded and were 2-1 up at half time. Courtesy of a brilliant goal the Tornadoes got a deserved equaliser when Kai Mitchell supplied a perfect cross and Joe Furlong finished the move at the near post.
A disappointed Under 15's Tornadoes outfit suffered a 1-0 away defeat after their Section B fixture with Bolton County Bullets who's match winning goal came in the first half. The Tornadoes Man of the Match was Jonathan Mayingi.
Despite dominating their Section E away game against Ringley Park Rangers the Under 14's Tornadoes lost the match 3-2. The teams were level 1-1 at the break and Beechy had enough chances to score a lot more goals. Man of the Match Mathew Bennett and Fernley Davies were on target with goals for the Tornadoes.
Salford and Districts Football League (U/7's to U/13's)
Celebrating their first victory of the season were the Under 13's Tornadoes who beat the Under 13's Thunder 4-3 at Bolton Road Playing Fields. In an highly entertaining game Thunder's display was below-par while the Tornadoes produced a gutsy performance. Konstantin Hristova netted twice to put Thunder ahead but the Tornadoes fought back to level it up before taking the lead. Ishor Bajgai from the penalty spot made it 3-3 but once again the Tornadoes found another gear and eventually got a match winning goal. Goal scorers for the Tornadoes were Keelan Jones (2) who was making his debut, Alan Kay and Ronan Courtney. Tornadoes Man of the Match was Max Chidgey.
The Division 1 9v9 fixture between Beechy Under 12's Storm and Flixton Junior Pumas proved to be an evenly balanced contest. The score remained 0-0 until the last couple of minutes when Flixton Pumas secured a 1-0 victory. Harrison Davies was named Man of the Match.
Beechy Under 12's Tornadoes (9v9) kicked off the New Year with a Division 2 home game against Barr Hill Clubs played at Beech Farm. Rafael Silviera scored a consolation goal for the Tornadoes who lost 2-1 their first defeat in six games. Player of the Match was Oliver Lomas.
Away to Boothstown Clarets were the Under 11's Lightning (9v9) and Beechy won this Development Group Yellow Division match by the odd goal in seven. The teams Man of the Match award went to Robert Harris while Kyle Stafford (hat-trick) and Matthew Corry fired home the goals.
In the Development Group Blue Division the Under 11's Typhoon (9v9) started 2018 with a tremendous attacking display that resulted in a superb victory over Deans Panthers. Joseph Bothamley produced a brilliant performance but Sam Henderson who scored four goals was named Man of the Match. Also on target were Charlie Harris (hat-trick) and Cole Winstanley.
Neighbours Moorside Rangers Green were the Under 11's Storm's opponents in the Challenge Tournament. Following two defeats the Storm returned to winning ways with a fairly comfortable victory. Freddie Jackson, Josh McLoughlin and Sonny O'Brien got the goals and voted Best Player was Caden Gibson.
At Beech Farm the Under 10's Storm shared six goals in normal time with Ladybridge Lions but Beechy lost this Challenge Tournament tie following a penalty shoot-out. Goals for the Storm came via Saul Tagoe, Michael Walsh and James Cadwalader. Chosen as Man of the Match was Damian Derbyshire.
Playing their last Challenge Tournament fixture were the Under 10's Tornadoes who were away to Moorside Rangers Red. A decent performance by the Tornadoes earned them little reward and it was Rangers who eventually won the tie. An easy choice for Beechy's Man of the Match was goalkeeper Freddie Wardle after he produced some fantastic saves.
Tanatswa Chirwa was voted Man of the Match following the Under 10's Hurricanes first official league game in the New Year. Beechy were in action on Sunday when they played Manchester Maccabi Warriors away in the Development Group Green Division.
For their opening game of 2018 the Under 9's Tornadoes travelled to play De La Salle Reds in the Development Group Blue Division and Beechy were unlucky not to get a positive result. Just two mistakes led to the Tornadoes conceding a couple of goals that gifted their opponents the win. Matty Cox received the Man of the Match accolade.
There was a Sunday morning match for the Under 9's Hurricanes in the Challenge Tournament. Jaiesh Devani-White, Priestley Smith and Daniel Robinson got the goals as Beechy secured a fully deserved victory. The Player of the Match award went Jamie Maher.
The Under 8's Lightning lost an eleven goal thriller following their Development Group Yellow Division home game with Flixton Junior Avengers. There was some superb football from both teams and the result could have gone either way. Beechy's goal scorers were Man of the Match Deenraj Singh, Oscar Mather and Oliver Eckersley.
Involved in a great game away at Salford Wolves were Beechy Under 8's Storm who took a two goal lead in the first half via Ronnie Pinckney-Thompson and Riley Haney. The Storm had countless chances to win this Development Group Blue Division match but were denied more goals due to a superb performance by the Salford Wolves keeper. A breakaway attack led to the home side reducing the arrears in the second half then Salford Wolves were awarded a penalty that resulted in the hosts earning themselves a draw.
Goals from Connor O'Sullivan, Harry Wallis plus an own goal were reward for a much enhanced performance from Beechy Under 7's Storm. At home to AFC Monton Ninjas the Storm's outfield players showed vast improvement in their tackling something they had work on in training sessions.
The scheduled games involving the Under 13's Storm and Under 16's Storm were postponed.
