- U7's Thunder Match Report 13/1/2024
Result Thunder 6 Salford United 4
Man of the Match - Che!
On a slightly dull, damp morning in Lower Broughton, the wild birds noticeably extra active with the impending freeze on it's way, the Salford United squad were devilishly making every effort for a result today, meeting early with warm up drills and lengthy preparations and practice and this showed with the Devils taking an early lead through a good break.
The fightback ensued from a good save off Bobby and nice distribution with Rio causing the back line problems breaking down attacks effortlessly. Good tackling and breaking through midfield from Elliot gave an insight of what could be in store for the rest of the game...
The Salford Team were proving an equal match and their 'key' players obviously well experienced and testing and stretching Thunder throughout the large pitch.
With good covering and pressing from Bodie, Louie was able to demonstrate his composure on the ball giving the Team the lift and Thunder getting a smell of blood they were thirsting for to raise their game. Repeated attacks ensued with Che clearly enjoying being back in the fold and this enabled him to play to the best of his abilities, really stretching play.
Strong challenges throughout the game led to a number of stops in play and mixed attacks from both Teams made for an exciting game. Great defending from Che a number of times saving the keeper from action then quick to change that into an attack was superb. He quickly followed this up with an excellent goal settling the Team a little.
Further attacks continued from Thunder with Louie able to deservedly pick up a goal. The ever-skilful Rene even though having to surf some heavy clunky challenges throughout was not far behind and managed to make it 3-0 with another great goal and the Team were now settled in to their usual attacking rhythm.
Bobby the enforcer put in some crucial challenges and again excellent cover, tackling and distribution from Angelo gave the Team the attacking edge. Louie and Rene were now having some attacking freedom and was unlucky not to have netted more. Another quick attack from Rene and this time he was able to find the net with the keeper who had a very good game unable to compete against the thundering attacks.
The ever present and happy Che was quick off the mark to make it 5, showing experience from previous attempts beating the keeper with brains as well as skill and composure.
Rio's superb work rate and positioning meant it was only a matter of time before he was on the scoresheet and took his goal brilliantly. Very well deserved from patrolling the back line to quickest in attack. Further attacks ensued with Thunder seemingly entering thick fog when on attack where passing to free players could have enabled Thunder to enter double figures. Salford brought it back to 4 for them and late attacks from the Devils gave Thunder a good test.
Some great dribbling from Louie and further attacks from Bodie and Bobbie, Thunder were unlucky to not have more of the Team on the scoresheet. The Devils could have equalled and possibly gone in front but the superb Elliot with the blonde hair and build resembling a young Schmeichel pulling off some great saves from some tricky shots the United great would have been proud of, keeping Thunder in the game at this point and not leaving the Team rueing the missed chances.
All the Boys fought for the Team and the level of effort with some outstanding skill, tracking back, fast attacking, passing and pure work rate set them apart again today for a great win.
