- Four Games Unbeaten For Sat Senior Team
Following a 4-2 away win over Medlock Rangers the in-form Saturday Morning Senior team made it four league games unbeaten. Making a whirlwind start to this Division 1 contest United had the luxury of taking a 2-0 lead after only seven minutes. Beechy opened the scoring in the forth minute when the ball was accurately played behind the Medlock defence and John Bolton who had timed his run perfectly supplied a powerful finish. A quick passing move led to Joe Poyser finding himself one-on-one with the keeper and the Beechy player calmly slotted the ball home. Beechy controlled the remainder of the first half and though they lacked the finish to some clear cut chances were still good value for their two goal advantage at the break.
Just two minutes after the restart Roy Owen worked hard to win possession and his accurate pass set-up Scott Foulds who hit the ball first time past the keeper for 3-0. Continuing to play some first-class soccer United had to wait until the 72nd minute before they got goal number four. After the ball was won in midfield it broke free to Max Leonard and Beechy's striker displayed superb footwork getting past the Medlock centre half before he hammered the ball past the keeper. United relaxed their grip slightly on the match and the home side reduced the arrears six minutes later from the penalty spot and Medlock added their second goal in the 83rd minute. A long ball sent deep into United's half wasn't cleared and eventually an unmarked Medlock forward had a simple close range finish. (13/1/2018)
Sharing United's Man of the Match Award were Wes Pierce and Scott Foulds.
