- Junior Section Match Details 20th/21st Jan 2024
The Adverse Weather forced the posponement of all but three games in the Junior Section on Saturday/Sunday 20th/21st January 2024.
*Beechy U/12's THUNDER (9v9) had a Sunday away game in the Salford and Districts League against Manchester Maccabi Cubs and were rewarded for an excellent all-round display with a 3-1 victory. In this Division 4 encounter Thunder played with real confidence and looked well orgaised in defence. Ajab Fakeeh and Mohammed Edris plus an own goal gave Beechy a flying start with three quick goals in the first half which deflated Maccabi Cubs. Controlling the game from there on Thunder made a few changes and restricted the hosts to just a few chances towards of the end of the half. In the second half Beechy made more positional changes and Maccabi grew into the game but some fantastic defending from Abdul Mohammed kept United's opponents at bay. Maccabi did score a consolation goal but Thunder remained in control and ran out comfortable winners. All Beechy's players produced superb performances.
Beechfield U7 Storm 7-0 AFC Urmston Meadowside Bears
*Beechfield United U/7's STORM made a comprehensive bounce back following a recent loss matching the scoreline at the start of the season with some great football on show - throughout the game. The combination play from Henry, James and debutant Bryce involved a lot of the play starting on the left with crosses in from Henry and Archie into James finishing twice in quick succession. Despite Urmston looking to break a lot their attacks were easily dealt with by Alfie and Archie at the back.
The third goal went to Henry who following some great work on the right from James took the ball and squeezed it past the goal keeper & Beechy took it to 4 with a debut goal with a fantastic finish from Brycec who broke to the right of the area and accurately finished to the left of the keeper
Second half started the same with some strong pressing from both Ralph and George in unfamiliar midfield roles and the game getting a bit scrappy with Alfie in the thick of it battling against a spirited Urmston fight back. Shortly after some subs (in their normal positions!) James scored 8th goal in 3 games having been fouled in the area following a solid run into the area finishing emphatically.
Beechy kept the pressure on with Ralph scoring with some fantastic footwork and a clever finish past the goal keeper all topped by Archie with a fantastic finish into the bottom right corner from the left of the goal to complete a resounding victory for Beechy Storm!
MOTM: Players vote going to Bryce for some composed running, finishing for his brace and assists from the left of defence.
Goals:
3x James
2x Bryce
1x Ralph
1x Henry

Beechfield United U/7's THUNDER (4) V Urmston Seahawks (2)
Team:
Bodie
Elliot
Angelo
Bobby
Louie
Jose
Rene (2)
Rio (2)
Man of the Match – Rio!
Thanks Lester and Craig for refereeing!
A finger numbing cold Winter day on the Swinton Plains with ice and snow clinging on following a recent snow covering.
The Seahawks proved a worthy match from the start and had certainly been sharpening their Talons for what proved to be a frosty game!
A quick start from both Teams with good attacking and strong play, Jose and Rio putting good effort in to some strong challenges and a shot from Rene early on. Angelo covering the defence again with some nice passing and composure and being there showing how he can read the game.
Bobbie was great in the net and needed to pull off some daring saves after some excellent breaks from Urmston who had some excellent players but another super shot and Rene made it 1-0!
Urmston were quick to fire back with a break and make it 1-1 with some excellent individual play.
Thunder were quick to re-group and as is becoming the expectation of this Team fought hard for every challenge and started to stretch the Urmston Team with more attacks.
The Seahawks couldn’t keep track of Rio and a great strike made it 2-1!
Bodie was heavily engaged in midfield battles with some excellent tackling and distribution showing he is grasping the game and enjoying it and along with Rio managed to tame the best of the Seahawks and bring them down a branch or two much to their dislike! Elliot was covering the pitch with ease to engage in the action and again managed to get good breaks after winning the ball, distribute brilliantly and fight for his Team.
Louie of course brought his famous dribbling skills to the wing and question marks were raised what was on his boots as Urmston were struggling to take the ball from his feet! This continued with everyone having a good attack and Bodie unlucky not to get to the ball for a sure goal.
Rene was suffering from some heavy blows as the Urmston Team could not get the ball and he was superb to cover so much ground and get up after these in the freezing conditions and continue his fantastic attacking work.
Jose and Bobby put in some excellent play attacking and defending and Rio who seemed to be everywhere was excellent in picking up the ball and finding a player which enabled Bobby some freedom and he came close again to scoring.
Louie was very unlucky not to get on the scoresheet with several attacks which always get the crowd warmed up and is simply great to watch. Rene again was badly fouled with a borderline penalty and he was given a freekick. He lined this up and even with a dead leg there was only one place this was ending up!
Elliot was required in the goal and again relished with some cool handling and distribution.
Rio managed to finish the game off with a sublime first time effort with little time to react and left the keeper with no chance. A really good goal and well deserved for the Man of the Match with superb workrate, tackling attacking and distribution. Oh and the goals!
Again, great Team effort, everybody did well, especially with no mid-week training. They really fought for each other and the less experienced are showing how quick they learn and are not scared to get involved. Well done all.
