- Junior Section Match Details 19th January 2019
Beechfield United Under 13's Storm produced a great all-round performance in their Bolton Bury and District League Section C away game against Breightmet Eagles and were rewarded with a 2-1 victory. On their opponents Astroturf Pitch the Storm made a bright start to the match and Leo Barrett and Georgi Georgiev went close to getting an early goal. Some great passing moves created chances but Beechy just couldn't score until a shot by Georgi Georgiev was saved by the Breightmet keeper but Leo Barrett netted the rebound. Beechy led 1-0 at the break but the second half was more evenly balanced with Breightmet moving the ball around with more accuracy. David Bondy, Leo Barrett and Georgi Georgiev almost hit the target before Georgi ran from the halfway line to drill the ball into the corner of the net to put Storm 2-0 up. Awarded a dubious free kick with ten minutes to go Breightmet reduced the arrears and Beechy had to work hard before they were able to secure a well deserved win. Storm's Manager Graham Everall said this was a great performance from the lads the best since he took over as Boss at the start of the season. Every player deserved the Man of the Match honour but it was Sam Walton who received the Award.
Following their 5-1 victory over Bolton County Rockets the in-form Under 16's Tornadoes opened up a nine point lead at the top of the Section B table. This Bolton Bury and District League fixture produced an uneventful first twenty five minutes until a long ball over the Rockets defence was beautifully controlled and volleyed into the net by Leighton White to give Beechy a 1-0 lead at half time. But after a not so convincing first half display the Tornadoes looked a different team and Ademola Olusanya was on target with the second goal which was followed by a brace from Man of the Match Leighton White who completed his hat trick. The fifth goal came via Cameron Wright who guided the ball into the corner of the net for his first goal in just over three years. Bolton County Rockets got their late consolation goal after the ball was deflected into the net.
There was a Sunday fixture for the Under 13's Tornadoes who were away to Manchester Maccabi Broughton. The hosts dominated most of this Division 2 game and when Beechy produced the occasional burst of energy Justin Suele scored the Tornadoes only goal. There were other chances on offer but they weren't taken and Beechy suffered a 4-1 defeat.
An illness ravaged Under 12's Typhoon (9v9) outfit produced a spirited performance in their Division 2 away game against De La Salle Reds. Cole Winstanley gave Beechy the lead via a superb finish into the top corner of the net. Typhoon battled throughout and were rewarded with further goals from Man of the Match Charlie Harris and Joseph Bothamley but it just wasn't enough to stop De La Salle winning the match 6-3.
At Beech Farm on Saturday morning the Under 11's Storm rediscovered the winning formula in the Yellow Group fixture with Davyhulme Park. Saul Tagoe, Joshua Kilfoyle and James Cadwaladr scored the goals as Beechy celebrated a fully deserved victory. Sharing the Man of the Match award were Joshua Kilfoyle and Coby Cleary.
The Under 11's Hurricanes (9v9) were involved in another hard fought away game in the Yellow Group. From the kick-off Beechy worked non-stop against opponents Manchester Maccabi Warriors but they were forced to share a 0-0 score line at half time. Hurricanes took the lead in the second half when Rian Haines had a powerful drive parried by the Maccabi keeper and Kane Wood scored his first Beechy goal when he fired home the rebound. before long the Hurricanes added their second goal and again Rian Haines was involved only this time his thunderbolt strike flew past the keeper and into the back of the net. Following more pressure from Beechy the Maccabi keeper made a brilliant save before the hosts pulled a goal back after a corner and a few minutes later repeated the move to get back on level terms. The Hurricanes Man of the Match Tanatswa Chirwa who had another monster game defended the ball in the area then went on a solo run that ended when the Maccabi keeper was injured in the process of making a brave save. Beechy were caught off guard via a breakaway move and Maccabi snatched victory with their third goal.
I the Blue Group Beechy Under 10's Tornadoes were involved in a really good game with Barr Hill Diamonds. The Tornadoes boys displayed excellent passing of the ball and communication between the players was fantastic but unfortunately Barr Hill came out on top thanks to a solitary goal victory. Named as Tornadoes Man of the Match was goalkeeper Asa Brown.
Also in the Blue Group the Under 10's Hurricanes were in action at home against Stretford Victoria Panthers. Man of the Match was Amaan Khan for his determination to win back the ball and Beechy had chances going forward but were not clinical enough inside the visitors penalty area. Showing greater resolve to get forward at every opportunity Stretford Victoria finished well and won the game. Hurricanes Manager Ben Robinson was confident saying once the missing key players are back from injury his team will be a force to be reckoned with.
On a difficult pitch the Under 10's Lightning entertained South Manchester Sports Lions on Sunday at Beech Farm. In this Green Group fixture South Manchester took the initiative and held a comfortable lead at the break. Lightning's overall performance improved in the second half and despite conceding again were rewarded with two goals by Sean Cosgrove and one from Man of the Match Enzo Patrick.
Following last weeks best display of the season expectations were high when Beechy Under 9's Thunder met Manchester Maccabi Sharks in the Yellow Group but Thunder never got a foothold in the game and suffered a heavy defeat. Highlight of the match was Charlie Smethurst's celebration after he scored Beechy's consolation goal.
A solo goal by Broadie Mundy was enough to guarantee the Under 9's Lightning victory following their Blue Group away game at Swinton FC Tigers. Oliver Eckersley was named Lightning's Man of the Match and he dictated everything in the central area of the pitch. Beechy's superbly organised defence of Kyle Tandy, Kaylon Salisbury and Isaac Moore were brilliant throughout not allowing Swinton Tigers anything in front of goal.
Suffering a frustrating day in the Yellow Group were the Under 9's Tornadoes who made the short journey to play Swinton FC Sharks. Goals from George Wadeson and Stewart Kay put Beechy two goals up but it never looked like being a secure lead. Swinton Sharks fought back and reduced the arrears before half time then the hosts equalised early in the second half. Swinton's keeper made several good saves during the game and the Sharks grabbed a winning goal midway into the second period. Tornadoes Manager Richard James said after the game more work in need on the training ground regarding passing, moving into space and shooting. Man of the Match was Martin Cholakov.
In only their second game in the top Division (Red Group) the Under 8's Storm produced a much improved performance especially in the second half. Kingsley Walters scored Storm's consolation goal and goalkeeper Reuben Wardle was the teams Best Player.
For the first time this season Beechy Under 7's can celebrate back-to-back wins in the Salford and Districts League. Showing real improvement throughout the whole squad United earned a thrilling victory over South Manchester Sports who have previously beaten Beechy heavily. Five of United's six goals were scored by Man of the Match Oliver Cooper the other goal came via Jake Wood. Special mention for star goalkeeper Sophia Price who was outstanding again.
