After a Friday night 2 match experience against U8's Stockport County Academy the boys were up bright and early for there league game against JBAS!!
The line-up started with our star keeper Bobby in net, Elliott and Che in defence Ralph in the middle and Jose playing up front.
The game got underway and instantly Thunder put JBAS on the back foot with Che and Ralph running through the JBAS defence with some great link up play, with a bit of scrap outside the D Che managed to eagerly slip the ball in the bottom corner to score our first goal. JBAS came back with a few passing sequences to get in our half but Elliott as always with his speed managed to sweep the ball up from there possession to continue our great start. After a persistent Ralph dribbling through the JBAS team on his preferred Astroturf pitch he eventually found the back of the net to add the second goal. The game continued with a flurry of attacks from Beechy which felt as the though the Friday night games against Stockport had lit a fire in there belly’s. Jose and his tenacious personality made a few runs from midfield through there defence but couldn’t find the back of the net. JBAS managed to get a few scrappy shots in come from kick ins but Bobby had them covered. Jose determined to get on the score sheet and continue his goal scoring tally into the new year managed to get his goal which was intercepted from the right hand side, dribbled through the defence and the back of the net for the third goal and half time.
The second half started with Gio now playing in defence JBAS must of had a good team talk at half time as they upped their game, making a few good runs through the midfield Bobby made some excellent saves to hold on to our clean sheet. Tensions rose but the boys held strong with Gio making some solid tackles to keep JBAS at arms length. A goal was disallowed for JBAS for a direct shot from a kick in which was a wake up call for the boys. Ralph managed to get his second goal for number four from a great kick from Bobby in goal which killed the game.
An outstanding performance from all the boys against a tough JBAS team. Proud of them for stepping up today in the cold weather and the tired legs. It was a hard call for MOM as we were solid throughout the pitch but Che received it for his consistent pressing and battling today. Well done 👍
