Beechfield Utd U11's Tornadoes versus 30 Football Club U11's Blues

The Tornadoes were in action for the first time in a month, looking to build on our win last time out. We knew it would be a tough match against a side that had already beaten us earlier in the season, and it turned out to be a great game!

We started shooting downhill on a heavy Beech Farm pitch. Both sides exchanged a few corners but there were little clear cut chances early on in a tense opening. Beechy defenders, especially Reuben McCormick were terrific at the back getting in numerous tackles and blocks, and anything that did get through was handled superbly by keeper Ty Dobson. Dawood Fakeeh was everywhere and must surely have covered the most ground on the pitch.

As the half wore on Beechy pressed more and deservedly took the lead with about 10 mins of the half remaining. The ball was played through to Grayson Evans and Alex McGrory who were both clear. Alex left the ball to Grayson in the box who cut back inside onto his left foot and drilled the ball home to give Beechy the lead. The goal spurred us on and we were unfortunate not to go in at half time further in front with Grayson and Dawood both going close.

At half time we were dealt a blow with Ryan Cordingley being forced off due to illness, so had to change a few players positionally. We knew it would be a much tougher 2nd half shooting uphill.

30 FC improved in the 2nd half and had us on the back foot for long periods. The whole team defended superbly as a unit, with Alex McGrory, Mason Stockton, Jayden Lowe and Aidan Thompson all putting their bodies on the line for the team. We were dealt another blow with Ralph Theaker bring forced off through illness, leaving us with a bare 9 players for the last 20 minutes. 30 FC continued to press, but we held firm. With 10 minutes remaining came a rare Beechy attack in the 2nd half, some good play on the left involving Grayson Evans and Harry Myddleton saw the ball break to Dawood Fakeeh who slotted home coolly to double Beechy's advantage against the run of play.

Despite going two down the opposition continued to press and pulled a goal back with 5 minutes remaining. A tired Beechy team threw one huge effort at it last 5 minutes, and survived a couple of corners to seal a hard fought win, our 2nd win in a row!

Everyone was tremendous today, so Player of the Match was really tough. Alex, Reuben, Grayson, and keeper Ty all came close, but POTM went to Dawood Fakeeh who ran his guts out, the whole game and superb defensively, in the midfield creatively, and ultimately scored the winning goal! Well done Dawood, but more importantly we'll done to the whole team, I was proud of every one of you today you were fantastic! ⚽️
