- Junior Section Match Details 25th/26th Jan 2025
After six weeks without a game Beechfield United Under 9's Thunder were glad to be back in action in the Salford and Districts Junior League.
*On a rather cool Saturday morning at Beech Farm Playing Fields the Under 9's THUNDER eased their way to victory over Ordsall Park Juniors. Chase Sixsmith fired the ball into the corner of the net to give Beechy a narrow lead at the break. The game was played almost exclusively in Ordsall's half of the pitch and with both poor finishing and excellent goalkeeping at the forefront Thunder would have out of sight. Beechy added renewed pressure on their opponents in the second half but this time the finish matched the first-class football. Man of the Match Harrison Spencer who was up and down the pitch throughout the game finally netted Thunder's second goal with a powerful shot from outside the area. Beechy keeper George Kelly who switched roles in the second half to be more involved in the action scored goal number three. Grayson Owen and Tiffany Kandemiri got Beechy's last two goals with well placed strikes past the visitors keeper. Ordsall Park managed a consolation goal in the final seconds of this Red Group game.
*The Under 8's TORNADOES were involved in a thirteen goal thriller in their away game with AFC Urmston Meadowside Lions. In this Salford and District Junior League Yellow Group fixture the Beechy Boys fought back superbly after being four goals down. Brayden Gilligan, Arlo McFarlane (who was making his debut) and Kayden Knight were the goalscorers for the Tornadoes.
*Quickly finding the winning formula again were the Under 10's STORM who's opponents in their Salford and Districts Junior League Red Group home game were Moorside Rangers Blues. The hard working Bobby Lowe who was Storm's Player of the Match scored all four goals that included an impressive overhead kick as Beechy secured a deserved victory.
*There was an outstanding all-round performance in the Manchester Youth Super League from Beechy Under 10's THUNDER who's met Rochdalians Panthers. Thunder's Manager Mark Newby praised all the players and said he thoroughly enjoyed watching this very good game of football. Previously Rochdalians had beaten Thunder heavily but on this occasion Beechy who equally matched their opponents deserved to win the match. Thunder had three clear cut chances to secure the victory while both Rochdalians goals came after Beechy's mistakes. Edan McHugh scored Thunder's consolation goal.
*A losing scoreline didn't do justice to the Under 11's LIGHTNING following their match with Chadderton Park Vipers. The first half of this Manchester Youth Super League encounter was a close affair and the Vipers held a one goal lead at the break after scoring direct from a corner. Lightning had many chances to equalise before half time but somehow the ball would not go into the net. As Beechy pushed hard for a goal in the second half they left gaps in defence but eventually Kayson Gregg scored a fantastic solo goal late in the game that gave everybody something to cheer about. Overall this was a great performance from the Beechy Boys and voted Man of the Match was Eshan Shanahan who put in a great shift in midfield.
*Involved in a rare 0-0 draw were the Under 15's TORNADOES who played Winton Wanderers Spartans at David Lewis Playing Fields. The point earned kept the Tornadoes occupying second place in Division 2 in the Salford and Districts Junior League. Beechy are at home again on Saturday 1st February 2025 when they face Sale United Sabres in the Supplementary Cup.
*Beechy Under 16's HURRICANES were away to Deans Youth Orange for their local derby game. Beechy made a bright start in this Division 1 match and a low effort by Alfie Rostron forced a a fine save from the Deans keeper. The Hurricanes continued to dominate the contest and Henry Errington produced a neat piece of skill before his shot was saved by the keeper. Beechy's early pressure finally paid dividends when they took the lead through Henry Errington who's sheer determination to win the ball inside the area was rewarded when he scored from eight yards. Almost straight from the restart Deans equalised from the penalty-spot though the referee was rather generous towards the hosts when he made a dubious decision to award the spot-kick. Following a free kick to the Hurricanes the hosts keeper misjudged the flight of the ball and an effort from Owen Hogben was cleared off the line. HT 1-1. The Hurricanes had dominated the first forty minutes and were unlucky not to have scored another three or four goals. After a scrappy opening in the second half Beechy took control of the game again and almost regained the lead when Rafael Djacy forced a brilliant save from the keeper. The referee allowed several blatant fouls on Beechy players to go unpunished but the Hurricanes remained focused and added what proved to be their match winning goal. From a throw-in JJ Lowery delivered a great cross and timing his run into the area was Alfie Rostron who fired the ball into the corner of the net. This was a thoroughly deserved away win for Beechy who's Man of the Match was Henry Errington.
*After making the long journey for their East Manchester Junior League Division 3 fixture against Hazel Grove United the Under 16's THUNDER were rewarded with a 3-0 victory. A gritty and battling first half performance from the Beechy Boys was badly affected by the poor weather and they shared a 0-0 scoreline at half time. Thunder took the lead via Joshua Whitehead who after stepping up to take a free kick hammered the ball through the hosts defensive wall and past a stranded keeper into the net. It quickly became 2-0 when a great through ball sent Devon Birkett racing clear and he supplied a confident finish. The three points were guaranteed with goal number three when Sophiyulah Bakare was fouled in the box and Rafael Djacy easily beat the keeper from the resulting spot-kick. Thunder's superb second half display secured the win as Beechy gained revenge after losing the previous game between the teams.
