- Three More Vital Points for U/17's Thunder
Following a 4-2 away win over Crompton Blues the in-form U/17's Thunder earned three more vital points as they extended their unbeaten run in the Bolton Bury and District League to four games.
*Beechy retained top-spot in Section D and on a very soft and sloping pitch made a positive start and quickly put their opponents under pressure. The breakthrough came after Jack Davies delivered a wondeful corner and Prince Idusuyi headed the ball home to give Beechy the lead. Thunder kept the pressure on the home team and went 2-0 up when Zion Agbiji sent a great lofted ball over the Crompton defence and Reiss Miller added a neat finish. Guilty of some slack decision making, missing a chance infront of an open net plus a penalty saw Thunder waste the opportunity to hold at least a 3-0 lead at half time. Crompton Blues showed their true character as they stepped up a gear in the second half and pressurised Beechy in the final third but fair play to Thunder for trying to play out from the back which was probably not a wise move on the poor and uneven pitch. Beechy ended up gifting their opponents a goal and it got worse soon after when another defensive mix-up resulted in Crompton Blues winning a penalty which was converted for 2-2 with twenty minutes to go.
Eventualy Thunder got their grip back on the game and as they started to win the midfield battle Star Man Nataniel Oskinski gave Crompton no time on the ball thanks to a brilliant display. Strong performances from Jack Davies and Dominic Lawton got Thunder pushing in the right direction while Max Chidgey playing on the right wing caused the hosts all sorts of problems. Crompton Blues defended well and it looked as if they were going to nick a point until Prince Idusuyi who moved into a more central position used his strength to get past two defenders and give Thunder their 3-2 lead. Again Max Chidgey showed some silky skills coming in from the flank and he set-up Prince Idusuyi for his hat-trick which guaranteed Beechy the victory. Nataniel Oskinski was awarded Man of the Match for his inspired midfield display.
