- United Draw Consecutive Friendly Games
Two more pre-season Friendly Games were arranged as Beechfield United 1st Team looked forward to the 2021/2022 season in the Manchester Football League.
Despite a below-par display United managed to secure a 2-2 with a very good De La Salle outfit. Straight from the kick-off United's back four of David McCarthy, Kyle Galbraith, Deren Saunders and Danny Royle faced some heavy pressure. A well organised De La Salle side created some great attacking soccer and their No8 saw a swerving effort hit the post. An entertaining first half was spoilt by far too many stoppages and Beechy were forced to produce more vital defending before the De La Salle No11 opened the scoring from the penalty spot. Following a corner taken by Mike Phythian Beechy almost got back on level terms but Kurtis Lee's header flew high over the crossbar. De La Salle went close on a few occasions to increasing their lead before United equalised when a De La Salle defender sliced the ball into his own net after a cross from Sam Bolton.
A goalkeeping error early in the second half gifted De La Salle a 2-1 lead and tactical changes were made as Beechy struggled get a foothold in the game. De La Salle continued to enjoy a greater share of the ball forcing more resolute defending from United's back four and Beechy keeper Jack Galbraith made an excellent save following a free kick. Against the run of play got their second goal when Man of the Match Kyle Galbraith delivered a superb accurate long ball and Callum Davies raced clear before adding a decisive strikers finish to complete the scoring.
Two days later United drew 3-3 after the Friendly Match against Govan Athletic who took the lead within two minutes. United fought back and were rewarded with an equaliser via Mike Phythian and the teams shared a 1-1 score line at the break. In the second half Beechy went 2-1 up when following a free kick the ball rebounded off the keeper to Zach Booth who blasted it into the net. Zar Jordan scored United's third goal and a Beechy win looked on the cards until Govan found two more goals in the latter stages. Man of the Match was Byron Ward.
