Beechfield United's Senior and Junior teams finally said goodbye to what was a Stop/Start 2020/2021 season.
Beechfield United Aces ended their first season in the Manchester Saturday Morning Football League with a Division 2 fourth place finish. The Aces final fixture was a home game against Manchester Rovers and following a solid all-round performance Beechy were rewarded with a 5-1 victory. Goals for the Aces came via Harry Halsey (2) Daniel Regan, Josh Main-Quinn and Kyle Galbraith.
A terrific second half display by Beechy Under 11's Tornadoes (9v9) produced a winning end to their season in the Salford and Districts League. Away to Swinton Tigers in the Blue Group every Tornadoes player gave a top-class performance that guaranteed Beechy a fully deserved victory. Oscar Mather who was named Man of the Match helped himself to four goals while Stewart Kay bagged another hat-trick.
Beechy Under 9's played their last match of the season when they met Salford United Juniors at Beech Farm and were able to celebrate a deserved win. In a very competitive match there was plenty of frantic action but for a large part of this Blue Group encounter both teams struggled to find their shooting boots. Beechy made a confident start as they displayed a superb range of passing which has improved massively in recent games. Aiden Gradwell and Robert Wagner pulled the strings in midfield as they created chances for Oliver Cooper while in defence keeper Sophia Price received good support from the hard working trio of Daniel Wharton, Patrik Doherty and Brody Burns. Beechy's opening goal was a cracker when Robert Wagner pounced on a loose ball and from the edge of the area fired it into the top corner of the net. In the second half the pace of Beechy's attacks was to much for the Salford United defenders with the tireless Thomas Brady and Oliver Cooper always at the heart of the action. A screamer from Jacob Wood and a smart finish by Oliver Cooper guaranteed the victory while a late consolation goal for the visitors was just reward for their hard working performance.
Completing their SDJFL fixtures for 2020/2021 were the Under 8's Tornadoes who met South Manchester on Sunday morning. This great game of mini-soccer in the Blue Group flowed from end to end with Beechy having most of the chances on offer. The teams shared eight goals and on target for the Tornadoes were Jack Hoatson (hat-trick) and Kai Barker.
Highlight in the last match of the season in the SDJFL for Beechy Under 14's Lightning was a first ever career hat-trick for Josh Harris. Beechy were away to Cadishead Town and following an emphatic victory the three points guaranteed Lightning a third place finish in the Division 2 table.
