- Junior Section Match Details 2/3/2024
The wet weather continued to play havoc with Beechfield United's Junior Section fixtures but eight games did go ahead in the Salford and District League's Supplementary Tournament and Cup Competitions.
*After two weeks without a game Beechy Under 14's TORNADOES were back in action at Brookhouse Playing Fields where they met Winton Warriors. The Beechy Boys didn't produce a top-class display but on a heavy pitch they had enough quality to guarantee a 5-3 victory. In this Supplementary Cup tie on target for the Tornadoes were Jayden Hoye (2) Josh Beddows, Oscar Mather and George Coyle who registered his first ever Beechy goal. *Congratulations George*
*The Under 12's TORNADOES were away against Sale United Vulcans for their second Supplementary Cup group game. In extremely heavy conditions on a pitch that was cut up from a previous game it was was hard work for both teams. From the start Beechy were guilty of allowing their opponents far too much time on the ball and taking advantage Sale United led 5-0 at half time. But after the break the Tornadoes did everything thay hadn't done in the first half when they battled hard and got the ball forward quicker. The pressure brought rewards for Beechy when during an attack down the left wing a cross found Martin Pankov who's effort hit the post but Emmanuel Roland netted the rebound to score his first ever goal for the club. A second Tornadoes goal soon followed after Poppy Johnston played the ball down the line to Thomas Brady and he powered into the box before finishing emphatically from a tight angle. Beechy searched for more goals without success and unfortunately conceded a sixth goal near the end.
*Away to Moorside Rangers Green the Under 10's TORNADOES who also played their second Supplementary Tournament fixture were looking for their first win after an unfortunate injury time defeat in the first group game. Beechy welcomed new signing Denholm Brookes into the squad and what a debut it turned out to be for new Tornadoes player. Making a slow start the Tornadoes were on the back foot for most of the first half and Rangers took the lead but against the run of play Beechy equalised. Aiden Thompson played a clever short corner to Denholm Brookes on the edge of the box and he hammered the ball into the top corner of the net off the goalpost frame. Despite the fantastic equaliser the Tornadoes stll couldn't get a foothold in the game and taking advantage of a useful advantage by the referee Rangers regained the lead just before half time. During the half time team talk the Beechy players knew they must improve in the second half and after a tactical switch the Tornadoes played much more on the front foot as they enjoyed a great share of the ball in their opponents half. Denholm Brookes was on target again with a fine free kick from outside the box to level the score then Beechy's Player of the Match completed his debut hat trick with another superb long range strike and this goal proved to be Tornadoes match winner. Both teams continued to create chances in this entertaining game but during a tense finish Beechy held on for their victory. *Congratulations Denholm*
*Following their Supplementary Tournament away tie with Salford Storm Tornadoes Beechy Under 10's LIGHTNING stretched their impressive unbeaten run to five games. The Beechy Boys knew it was going to be a tough task but Lightning started the first half in a very positive manner as they worked hard while creating chances. Michael Schofield and Charlie Durie were immense in defence not allowing Storm hardly any time to settle on the ball. Lightning's hard work was finally rewarded when Austin Fillingham went on a clear run and via a lovely finish slotted the ball past the keeper. Kayson Gregg and Crewe Reeves were fantastic in the midfield making numerous ball winning tackles and ten minutes before half time Eshan Shanahan added Beechy's second goal after a smart finish from inside the box. The second half was fairly even with Lightning playing the better football as they kept their opponents at arms length. Beechy keeper James Hardman had a strong second half dealing with potential chances that Strom created while George Richardson and Junior Davies played their part defending from the front and breaking up play. This was a fantastic performance from Lightning and Team Manager James Fillingham couldn't be more prouder of the players.
*Beechy Under 9's STORM were away at Salford Storm Lightning for their second Supplementary Tournament group game played at Stott Lane. Following twenty five minutes each way the teams failed to score a goal so the players were faced with a penalty kick decider. Unfortunately Storm lost the shoot-out.
*Due to their home pitch at Beech Farm being deemed unplayable the Under 8's STORM Supplementary Tournament fixture with Baguley Athletic was switched to KD Sports. Beechy had a full squad availble for the game which was won by the visitors. Storm's players were Rocky Linehan, Corey Davies, Jacob McLoughlin, Charlie Schofield, Alfie Garner, Sonny Cox, Jude Aimson, Calvin Hunter and Lucas King.
