- Junior Section Match Details 8/3/2025
There were several high scoring games on Saturday 8th March 2025 that included a dramatic penalty shoot-out victory for Beechfield Under 16's Hurricanes.
*The Under 16's HURRICANES were away to Longsight Eagles in the Supplementary Cup and in this Group Stage game Beechy played a major part in this thrilling contest that finished 5-5. The match referee hadn't arrived for kick-off so the Longsight coach took on the vital role and it was his team who took an early lead. Beechy faced added pressure when the Eagles went 2-0 then Hurricanes lost keeper Max Gill-Williams due to an injury and he was replaced by Alfie Rostron who was soon involved in the action. Alfie assisted when Beechy reduced the arrears as his long ball forward found leading goalscorer Rafael Djacy who hammered it into the net. Just when the Hurricanes appeared to have got back into the game Longsight Eagles scored agian to resore their two goal advantage. There was a brief stoppage when the referee finally arrived to take up his duties and soon after the Hurricanes got their second goal through JJ Lowery who volleyed the ball home from an assist by Djacy. Once again Longsight Eagles issued a positive response as they regained their two goal lead and as half time approached the game continued to swing from one end to the other Beechy reduced the arrears again. JJ Lowery netted his second goal of the game when he made it 4-3 following a great assist from Joshua Lowery. Longsight Eagles made a great start in the second half as they took a 5-3 lead leaving Beechy with a tough challenge ahead but the Hurricanes character shone through the whole team and they were awarded a penalty that was taken by Rafael Djacy who made it 5-4 with a well taken spot-kick. During a frantic finish JJ Lowery completed his hat trick and the scoring in normal time and at 5-5 that's how it ended after eighty minutes. In the pulsating penalty- kick decider that the Hurricanes won 5-4 Man of the Match Alfie Rostron saved three Eagles penalties.
*Without an official Salford and Districts Junior League fixture the Under 15's TORNADOES from Division 2 organised a friendly match with Division 1 team Kingsway North. In this away game Beechy went 3-0 down early in the contest but the Tornadoes produced a much imporoved performance in the second half. Kingsway added a fourth goal while the Tornadoes struggled to carve out any clear cut chances in an effort to get a consolation goal.
*Involved in a great development game were Beechy U'8s TORNADOES who's Saturday morning fixture was against Old Trafford Aces. Despite losing the match this was classed as a win for the the Tornadoes for their learning and effort plus the whole squad got a run out. Beechy created lots of chances straight from the kick-off but a great display by the Old Trafford keeper and efforts that hit the post plus time wasting by the Tornadoes opponents denied Beechy the win. The Tornadoes stepped up a gauge in preperation for 7-a-side next season and their cup final in May. Goals for Beechy were scored by Ronni Sangster, Brayden Gilligan (amazing free kick) and Billy Boyd.
*Due to pitch problems at Beech Farm the Under 12's TORNADOES (9v9) Supplementaty Tournament home game was moved to their opponents ground. The different venue didn't cause Beechy too many problems and the Tornadoes were able to celebrate a 4-1 victory over Winton Wanderers. Daniel Badewa, Zack MacKinnon. Tyler Ackernley (Penalty) and Lucio Riva scored the goals and supplying the assists for the goals were Lucio and Archie Charles.
*Beechy Under 10's STORM were involved in 3-way Supplementary Tournament play-off games. In the first game Old Trafford beat AFC Monton Mad Dogs then thanks to gals from Bobby Lowe and Seth Barber Storm secured victory over Monton. Against Old Trafford in the last game Beechy went a goal down but they battled hard and equalised and though Storm were the best team they couldn't add a winning goal in normal time and lost the tie following a penalty shoot-out.
*Despite a losing result the Under 11's LIGHTNING created a fine display against Chadderton Park and this Manchester Youth Super League fixture produced a false scoreline. Beechy took the lead when Eshan Shanahan forced a mistake from a Chadderton defender who gave the ball to Kayson Gregg and he hammered a long range shot into the top corner of the net for what is a contender for goal of the season. The Beechy Boys were playing with lots of confidence and always in the game but ten minutes before half time Chadderton won a free kick and equalised when somehow the ball bounced twice before finiding it's way into the net then Lightning conceded a second goal just prior to the break. A similar pattern developed in the second half when Beechy had chances but they just couldn't find another goal while gifting Chadderton three more. Man of the Match was split between three players Kayson Gregg, Eshan Shanahan and Henry Dunn.
*Also in the Manchester Youth Super League Beechy Under 10's THUNDER hit top-form in their cup game with Manchester Polonia. The whole Beechy team contributed to this top-class display that included some excellent football and nine goals. On target with the goals for Thunder were Harley Cosgrove-Newby, Deo Wai Wai, Henry Jones, Sonny Phillips, Edan McHugh and Sunay Shanahan. This winning result meant that Thunder extended their unbeaten run to three games.
*There was a pleasing victory for the Under 9's THUNDER who were away to Baguley Pumas for a Red Group fixture. After the recent franetic cup group the Beechy players were played in unfamilar postions to support development. Tiffany Kandemiri led the team out on Womens Day and put in her usual strong performance. Thunder went a goal behind but got back level when a cross from Harrison Spencer was turned into the net by Chase Simsmith. After conceding a second goal Thunder raced into the lead via two unstoppable rocket finishes from Harrison Spencer. Shortly before half time George Kelly was unlucky not to score on both occassions when two efforts hit the post from a tight angle. Jude Bond who had a strong performance scored the goal of the game via a volley following a corner. As the game entered the closing stages Beechy keeper Grayson Owen made two terrific saves and a Baguley defender cleared the ball of the line four times from consecutive shots. Both Harry Wright and Ezra Ramage had excellent games in defence.
