Beechfield United Under 15’s Predators booked their place in the semi-finals of the Manchester FA Youth Cup following a 3-1 win over near neighbours Moorside Rangers Red. After the local grass pitches had been deemed unplayable this quarter-final tie was switched to the 3G Astroturf Pitch at Salford Sports Village and it was the Predators who held the advantage at half time via a 2-0 lead. Moorside Rangers reduced the arrears but immediately after the restart the Predators restored their two goal advantage and dominated possession for the majority of the second half. Dylan Durose, Robert Boardman and Jace Winspear scored the goals and Ethan Haynes was named Man of the Match.

United’s Under 11’s Thunder (9v9) from Division 3 were away to Division 1 outfit Moston Tigers in the Challenge Cup semi-final. The Beechy lads who put up a gutsy display against their strong and talented opponents were under pressure straight from the kick-off. Moving the ball around efficiently Moston broke the deadlock with the opening goal and went two goals up before half time. A third goal for Moston put the home team firmly in charge and though Beechy conceded three more goals the players should be proud of their performance and how much they have improved throughout the season.

Away to local rivals Moorside Rangers Red the Under 10’s Storm found themselves two goals down in the first twenty minutes of a Supplementary Tournament game. Beechy’s overall performance improved in the second period but Moorside Rangers scored again before Man of the Match Ben Delaney netted the Storm’s consolation goal.

Producing a high scoring display were the Under 9’s Hurricanes who met Swinton Junior Tigers away in the Supplementary Cup. Man of the Match Reilly Happy, Dominic Roaden, Tom Worthington, Georgi Georgiev and Oliver Coles fired in the goals for the Hurricanes who hit double figures in a match they controlled from start to finish.

Caden Gibson and Alfie Gee got the goals for the Under 9’s Storm in the friendly match against a Barr Hill outfit. Beechy played some decent football at times but were guilty of far too many defensive mistakes. Cole Winstanley and Caden Gibson shared the Man of the Match Award.

In the Development Group Yellow Division the Under 8’s Storm moved their home game with AFC Monton White to the JJB Soccer Dome. Joshua Kilfoyle was on target with both goals but there was no Man of the Match Award handed out.

At Ordsall Leisure Centre the Under 7’s Tornadoes produced a spirited fight back after conceding four goals in their Tournament fixture with AFC Monton Sharks. In reply goals for the Tornadoes were shared between Man of the Match Blake Kerrigan and Fletcher Jackson.

The Under 7’s Storm’s Tournament fixture was also played at Ordsall Leisure Centre and Beechy created some first-class soccer against Deans Sports. There were two more goals for leading marksman Kylan Twigg while Ewan Tierney received the Star Player Award.

In action at Albert Park were the Under 7’s Hurricanes who played Barr Hill in a Tournament match. This fixture was an evening game and Beechy came out on top following a twelve goal thriller. On target for the Hurricanes were Man of the Match Ethan Harris, Lexi Hiles, Lloyd Hiles and Daniel Robinson.

The return of the erratic winter weather forced the postponement of the scheduled fixtures involving the Under 8’s Tornadoes, Under 8’s Hurricanes, Under 9’s Typhoon. Under 9’s Lightning, Under 10’s Tornadoes, Under 11’s Storm, Under 13’s Tornadoes, Under 14’s Storm, Under 15’s Tornadoes, Under 16’s and Under 17’s.
