POSTED: March 18 2019 15:44:03 By Keith Long - Junior Section Match Details 16th/18th March 2019

Several days of heavy rain played a bit part in the postponement of all but two fixtures allocated to teams within Beechfield United's Junior Section for Saturday 16th March 2019.

The Under 11's Hurricanes (9v9) Supplementary Cup game with Moorside Rangers Green went got the go-ahead but at the final whistle Beechy's five match unbeaten run came to an end when they suffered a 6-1 defeat to their local rivals. Trailing 1-0 at half time the Hurricanes pulled a goal back through Man of the Match Kane Wood but heads dropped and Rangers eventually secured a comfortable victory.

Beechy Under 9's Lightning played a friendly match away against Moorside Rangers Yellows but lost a bizarre game in awful conditions. Despite the defeat Lightning were credited with three fantastic goals, two amazing free kicks from Man of the Match Jeano Baker plus a goal for Beechy goalkeeper Brandon Booth who scored from his own penalty area. Rangers match winning goal came during the last few minutes.

In action on Monday evening were the Under 10's Hurricanes who met Boothstown Falcons in the Supplementary Cup. Beechy produced a fantastic performance against a big and strong Boothstown outfit and were able to celebrate following a single goal victory. Ambrose Barlow school was the venue for the tie and on a very wet Astro Pitch the pace of the game was of a frantic nature. Beechy faced an in-form Boothstown Falcons keeper who had a great game but the Hurricanes persistence finally paid off in the second half. Superb link-up play between Daniel Robinson and Oliver Williams was rewarded when the latter coolly slotted the ball into the back of the net to win Beechy the match. Henry Errington was the Hurricanes Star Player.
