- Junior Section Match Details 15th/16th March 2025
In the Junior Section on Saturday/Sunday 15th and 16th March 2025 from fifteen games played there were thirteen teams celebrating a victory. Also on 15/3/2025 the Under 10's Storm and Under 16's Hurricanes booked their place in the Challenge Tournament/Cup final.
*The Under 10's STORM who met local rivals Moorside Rangers Blues created a superb all-round display in this semi final tie. Throughout the game Storm produced some stylish attacking football and were rewarded with eight great goals. There were hat tricks for Seth Barber and Bobby Lowe plus a goal apiece by Oscar Pugh and Isaac Hargreaves. Storm's other players who starred in this performance were Alfie Heighway, Harry Heathcote-Clare, Jacob Foster, Oscar Berry, Harry Chambers and George Savage. The Man of the Match award chosen by the Team Officials went to Seth and Bobby while the players parents voted for Isaac.
*Producing another great display in their Development game were Beechy Under 8's TORNADOES. At home to Winton Wanderers Devils the Tornadoes made it five wins from their last six games in the Salford and Districts League. This game produced seven goals and Beechy secured their deserved win thanks to strikes by Billy Boyd, Brayden Gilligan and Ronnie Sangster.
*In the Manchester Youth Super League the Under 10's THUNDER were rewarded with an excellent victory following their game with Shawside FC. Currently the Beechy Boys are playing with real confidence and have only suffered defeat once in their last five games. On target with the goals for Thunder in this high scoring match were Sonny Phillips, Edan McHugh, Harley Cosgrove-Newby, Jack Steele and Deo Wai Wai.
*Also in action in the Manchester Youth Super League were the Under 11's LIGHTNING (9v9) who got the result they deserved as Beechy secured a win over Chadderton Park in their latest fixture. Lightning started well as they bossed the game both in possession and winning the individual battles and Austin Fillingham gave Lightning the lead with a well guided shot into the bottom corner of the net. Beechy added their second goal via Eshan Shanahan who's long range strike gave the Chadderton keeper no chance. Lightning pushed hard for a third goal as they created lots of chances but they just couldn't kill the game off. Chadderton Park reduced the arrears near the end to make it a nervy finish but Beechy didn't need to worry as the Boys defended superbly. The Man of the Match award was split between Eshan Shanahan, Charlie Drury, Henry Dunn and Kayson Gregg.
*In the Salford and Districts Junior League the Under 15's TORNADOES met Sale United Sabres away in the quarter-finals of the Plate Cup. Despite going a goal down early in the game following a penalty awarded to the Sabres the Beechy Boys fought back. Later in the first half Joshua Beddows netted the Tornadoes equaliser when he scored direct from a corner. With both teams cancelling each other out in the second half a penalty-shoot out seemed inevitable but with three minutes to go Sale United grabbed a match winning goal via a header following a corner.
*The Under 16's HURRICANES were away to Wythenshawe Wanderers in the Challenge Cup semi-final and booked their place in the final following a penalty shoot-out. After a fairly even opening period Beechy created the first real chance when Rafael Djacy forced a fine save from the Hosts keeper and from the rebound an effort by JJ Lowery hit the top of the crossbar. Beechy keeper Oliver Dalton-Bunker was slighty injured after a collision with a Wythenshawe player but thankfully he was OK to continue. In a tense first half the Hurricanes struggled with the uneven playing surface and after the first forty minutes it was still 0-0. Inside the opening minute of the second half Wythenshawe took the lead and suddenly Beechy found themselves 2-0 down after some slack defending. The Hurricanes responed well and were soon on the attack and reduced the arrears when the broke to Henry Errington in the penalty area and he hammered it home. Playing the better football Beechy equalised when Henry beat 2 or 3 defenders near the corner flag and sent the ball to Djacy who took a touch before drilling it into the net. Oliver, Owen Hogben, JJ, Henry Errington, Alfie Rostron and Djacy were all involved in a terrific move that almost earned the Hurricanes a third goal. Beechy appealed for a penalty for handball but the referee waved play on though the match official did eventually made the right decision after a foul on Djacy but the Wythenshawe keeper saved the resulting spot-kick. Full time score was 2-2 and in the shoot-out Djacy, Henry, Joshua Whitehead and Man of the Match Zach Davies all scored their penalties as the Hurricanes won the spot-kick decider 4-2.
*On Sunday morning the Under 16's THUNDER were in action in the Fused Sport Cup when they met Woodley Albion in a quarter-final tie. Beechy had an early goal disallowed for offside then Zack B forced a good low save from the hosts keeper as Thunder made a confident start. But it was Woodley Albion who got the opening goal after a collision between Thunder's keeper and a defender that allowed a hosts striker to tap the ball home from close range. A brilliant save by the Wythenshawe keeper denied an effort by Henry Errington of an equaliser and the hosts still held their one goal advantage at the break. Early in the second half a penalty to Thunder was missed but then Beechy had two clear cut penalties ruled out by the match official who showed to a hosts player who probably deserved a red card following a reckless tackle on Henry. Beechy equalising goal came via a free kick from 40 yards by Joshua Whitehead and Mihail directed a brilliant glancing header into the top corner of the net for 1-1. Two minutes later Thunder's winning goal arrived when keeper Oliver Dalton-Bunker launched the ball forward and Rafa took one touch then lifted it over the hosts defence and Rafael Djacy raced clear before hammering the ball beyond the keeper. In the last ten minutes Thunder faced a barrage of attacks as Woodley Albion attempted to find a late equaliser but the Beechy Boys that included Man of the Match Matty Cox defended superbly.
