The Under 14's Thunder made a slow start in their home game with Radcliffe Borough Aces and struggled for the opening quarter-hour in this North Bury Junior League Championship Division fixture. Borough had more of the ball and creating the better chances eventually took the lead but when Thunder finally produced some positive play they equalised through Max Shaw who scored a great goal when he lobbed the ball over the visitors keeper. Beechy could probably have defended much better before Borough Aces went 3-1 up and despite a couple of chances on offer Thunder were still two goals behind at the break. Borough continued to put Beechy under pressure during the second half but the defence stood firm and Max Shaw via a header netted a second goal for Thunder within the last ten minutes. As they craved for another goal to force a draw time ran out for Beechy who's Man of the Match award was shared between Max Shaw and Taonga Mututa.
Also in action in the North Bury Junior League were the Under 14's Tornadoes who faced a difficult task when they met Prestwich Marauders Dragons. In this Divisional Cup away game Beechy found it tough going and eventually lost the tie 7-0. Tom Williams picked up the Tornadoes Star Player award following a composed display in defence.
Following their Bolton Bury and District Section C away game at Bolton Lads Club the Under 13's Storm got back to winning ways. On their opponents artificial surface Storm started brightly and Georgi Georgiev had an early chance but he missed the target. Ben Delaney and Leo Barrett were pulling the strings in midfield and it was the latter who set-up Georgi Georgiev for the opening goal. Needing an immediate response Bolton Lads were given an helping hand when they punished two defensive mistakes by the Storm and the hosts led 2-1 at half time. Playing some really good football in the second half Beechy went close a couple of times before Leo Barrett supplied the pass that sent Georgi Georgiev through again to equalise courtesy of a neat finish into the bottom corner of the net. With his hat trick goal Man of the Match Georgi Georgiev put the Storm 3-2 up but once again Beechy were guilty of slack defending and Lads Club took the opportunity on this occasion to level the scores. Six months ago heads would have gone down and Beechy would have lost the match but displaying greater mental strength the Storm were rewarded when Tawonga Chirwa ran from the halfway line to smash the ball home for Beechy's match winning goal. Making it three wins on the trot in the Supplementary Competition the Under 13's Tornadoes continued their run of good form but in the away game against Winton Juniors the Tornadoes didn't play to their strengths in the first half and trailed 1-0 at the interval. During the second half Beechy played at a faster pace and they equalised via Bradley Oliver then a goal from Oliver Lawton gave the Tornadoes the lead. Bradley Oliver went on to complete his hat-trick and Beechy continued their winning streak with a 4-1 victory. It was a difficult decision regarding the Man of the Match award but it eventually went to Rafael Silviera for an exceptional defensive performance.
The Under 12's Typhoon (9v9) had a disappointing result following their Supplementary Cup away game with Salford Lads Club. Missing a hatful of chances Typhoon lost the tie 5-1 with Cole Winstanley's fine finish from Daniel Hesketh's cross to show for their efforts. Goalkeeper Peter Ellis produced numerous fine saves as Beechy chased the game and Sam Henderson put in a hard working Man of the Match performance in midfield.
After three successive victories the Under 12's Lightning tasted defeat in the Supplementary Cup when they went down 5-3 away to Swinton Cobras. Jake Barrington (2) and Leo Gradwell got the goals for Beechy but no Man of the Match award was handed out.
When the final whistle sounded at the end of the Under 11's Tornadoes (9v9) home game against Bury Amateurs Lions both sets of management and players shook hands and agreed that a draw was a fair result following this Red Group encounter. On an unfamiliar and bobbly pitch at Salford Sports Village both teams set about the task in hand and though Tornadoes enjoyed more possession and created some decent chances it was evident that accurate and crisp passing of the ball would be a rarity. Sam Rowbottom opened the scoring when through sheer determination he put the Bury Lions defenders under pressure and was able to tap the ball past the static visitors keeper. Then Edward Hughes added a second goal for Beechy before Bury Lions reduced the arrears after capitalising on a rare mix-up between a defender and Tornadoes stand-in keeper Finlay Fairhurst. There was no real change to the pattern of play in the second half with neither goalkeeper being troubled though the woodwork rescued both teams who found quality chances hard to muster. Bury Lions eventually equalised midway through the second period but neither team could find a winning goal. Tornadoes Man of the Match was awarded to Finlay Fairhurst for a competent stint between the posts.
A friendly game was arranged between Beechy's two other Under 11's teams Hurricanes and Storm. In a well contested match both teams produced some excellent football and it was the Storm who took the lead from a corner via Man of the Match Edward Lucas. Hurricanes hit back and grabbed an equalising goal through Kane Wood and honours were even when the whistle blew for half time. In the second half Oliver Cowley was on target when he put Storm back in front and as the game came to an end a header by Oliver Sheridan after a glorious from their Man of the Match Rian Haines the Hurricanes earned themselves a score draw.
Feeling confident after their recent Monday fixture the Under 10's Hurricanes players were reminded they faced a team they had never played before so they didn't know what to expect from their opponents Majic Sports Wolves. At Beech Farm the Hurricanes took a two goal lead in this Supplementary Competition game but Majic Sports always looked a threat especially in the wide areas and the Hurricanes couldn't afford a lapse in concentration. Unfortunately Beechy did switch off on a few occasions and conceded a couple of goals but the Hurricanes scored again to stay ahead at half time. The second half started just a good as the first for Beechy but another defensive mistake resulted in Majic Sports getting an equaliser. Producing a brilliant response the Hurricanes were really fired up and some fantastic link-up play between Alfie Rostron and Henry Errington led to the best goal of the game. There was some outstanding defensive work especially by Dillan Caldwell and though every single player contributed massively towards the victory it was Alfie Rostron who picked up the Man of the Match honour. Helping himself to another hat-trick was Henry Errington plus there was a goal apiece from Oliver Williams and Alfie Rostron.
With only seven players and no substitutes available Beechy Under 10's Tornadoes had to battle throughout in their Supplementary Competition away tie against Barr Hill Hearts. Following a goalless first half the Tornadoes went a goal down early in the second half but showing real determination Beechy equalised with a goal on his debut from Scott Howarth who shared the Man of the Match award with Matty Cox. The Tornadoes won the tie after a lengthy penalty shoot-out.
In a close game contested in great spirit the Under 10's Lightning boys took the lead after one minute and ten seconds in their Green Group fixture with Monton Sports Wolves. Jai Devani-White scored Beechy's opening goal and also on target for Lightning was Charlie Bell while other efforts hit the crossbar. For his second half performance which altered the flow of the game Nicholas Ainscough was voted Beechy's Star Player.
Winton Devils were the Under 9's Tornadoes opponents in the Supplementary Competition and Beechy managed to secure a narrow victory. Goals from Bailey Breeze (penalty) Stewart Kay and Josh Beddows were enough to earn the Tornadoes the win from a game that produced five goals. Colin Twardak was Man of the Match.
Away to Manchester Maccabi Sharks on Sunday morning the Under 9's Lightning lads showed massive character to recover from two goals down in this Supplementary Cup game and though Maccabi added another goal Beechy hit five. Jeano Baker was twice on target plus a goal each for Deenraj Singh and Man of the Match Oscar Mather who scored with a fantastic free kick towards the end of the game. A Maccabi own goal made up Lightings tally.
Beechy Under 9's Thunder lost their Supplementary Cup match with Stretford Victoria Albion but the score line wasn't a true reflection of the whole game. Thunder created but wasted several goal scoring opportunities while sloppy defending cost them dearly. Man of the Match Lewis Milburn scored Beechy's consolation goal and there's a special mention for Luke Loftus who made some great tackles and didn't stop all the game.
Celebrating victory over neighbours Moorside Rangers Blue were the Under 8's Storm. In the Supplementary Competition there was a hat-trick plus a Man of the Match performance from Harry Wallis plus two goals by Connor O'Sullivan that secured Storm's fully deserved victory. This was a good all-round team display based on hard work and a strong passing game.
Against a tough Swinton Tigers outfit Beechy's Under 7's team battled hard and the teams were closer in ability than the final result suggested. Three goals down at half time Beechy conceded two more before Aiden Gradwell netted the Under 7's only goal.
