- Junior Section Match Details 29th/30th March 2025
Highlight of the weekends fixtures was created by Beechfield United Under 16's Thunder who reached the East Manchester Junior League's Fused Sport Cup final.
*A dynamic performance by Beechy Under 16's THUNDER was rewarded with a place in the Division 3 Fused Sport Cup final. Thunder made the long journey to play Glossop North End and thanks to a battling display especially in the second half won the semi-final 2-1. With a gale force wind in their favour in the first half Thunder who dominated early territory and possession took the lead via Sophiyulah Bakare. Glossop North End struggled against the awful windy conditions and Beechy took advantage when another good move ended after Henry Errington added a confident finish for 2-0. A great effort by Devon Birkett almost got Thunder a third goal but the deflected off a hosts defender and hit the crossbar. Beechy were soon having to do more defending in the second half as Glossop North End with the wind at their backs began to take control and Thunder's keeper Oliver Dalton-Bunker made a vital save. The hosts were gifted a harsh penalty decision and a cool finish saw Glossop reduce the arrears. Beechy continued to produce a backs-to-the-wall performance as the hosts went close on several occasions to finding and equalising goal. Thunder's starting line-up was: Oliver DB, Rudolf, Mihail, Matty, Henry, Sol, Josh (c), Rafa, Zach D, Zack B and Djacy. Subs: Pedro, Devon, Owen, JJ and Sultan.
*Beechy U11's STORM continued their good run of form with probably their best display of the season.
The boys kicked off the first half and dominated play with some top quality passing, the only thing letting us down was not putting the ball away, we did pretty much everything but put the ball in the back of the net and despite all our good work we found ourselves a goal down after a mix up at the back, the only effort of note in the first half from Ordsall. We went in at half time one goal down but we were so dominant it felt inevitable we would get back in the game.
Into the second half Beechy continued to have the majority of possession and after only a few minutes got our equaliser, another great passing move from Harry Wharton playing out from the back, Joel Momoh and Denholm Brooks playing a neat 1-2 in midfield and Den finding Ismail Adetona with a fantastic through ball and Ismail smashed it into the bottom corner. This sparked a flurry of chances for Beechy who went close again through Ismail, Joel and Denholm before we took the lead, another good move, Barkley Pope beating his man down the right and picking out Max in the box and he smashed home. Beechy continued to press and were creating some good opportunities and another great passing move ended with Ismail getting his second. Into the dying minutes Beechy added a fourth after a great header from Max Schofield from a quality Denholm corner.
It was a really dominant display from the boys and our 3rd win on the bounce. Most pleasing was the standard of play, quality of passing and the working ethic.
Man of the Match was Denholm Brooks who bosssd the game in midfield always looking to play forward and he got 3 assists.
*There was another amazing performance in the Manchester Youth Super League from the Under 10's THUNDER Boys. The teams good run of form as earned them promotion to a higher division. At the league's Central Venue Thunder were in action against Strike FC and Beechy continued their winning streak with a high powered display. This game produced eleven goals and on target for Thunder were Sonny Phillips and Edan McHugh.

Beechfield THUNDER versus Old Trafford Aces
Starting Team
Bobby
Finley - captain
Elliot
Ralph
Angelo
Subs
Che
José
Second home game for the THUNDER boys and we were looking for a third win after two successful results. The boy's started the game well putting Old Trafford under pressure looking for the early goal. Elliot was finding plenty of space on the right and Finley also on the left making his darting runs down the flank. Angelo and Ralph were looking to break an opening in Old Trafford's back line but a combination of good defensive work and tricky pitch conditions were making it harder for thunder to keep hold of the ball. A theatrical style dive from Angelo led to a free kick which he gladly took on smashing it into the top corner emulating a Bruno Fernandes sequence of play ⚡. Old Trafford managed to equalise after a cross into the Thunder box wasn't dealt with leading to an easy finish for the Old Trafford striker. Che came into the game and instantly made an impact with his continuous running and pressure on the Old Trafford defence. His work would pay off when Thunder were awarded a free kick which Che struck with power taking it past the Old Trafford keeper and into the bottom corner ⚡. José started to find spaces and he was unlucky not to find the net on a couple of occasions. Declan made some good passes and interceptions on the flank and Elliot on the opposite side firing in some good crosses. Thunder's 3rd came shortly before the half time break when José hit a cross that looked to have gone over the goal line and Che was there to make sure it did, half a goal a piece was the conclusion without VAR ⚡. The second half was very competitive with Old Trafford looking to get back into the game. Bobby made a couple of excellent stops and José and Che were unlucky not to add to the scoreline. Old Trafford did manage to pull one back with Thunder making it hard on themselves towards the end but eventually we hung on for the win. Another good result for the boys today making that there 3rd consecutive win ⚡.
Man of the Match - Che, non stop running, a lovely free kick and a share of a goal with José for Thunder's winner ⚡
*Beechfield Utd U11 TORNADOES versus Winton Wanderers U11 Silverbacks
The TORNADOES changed formation for today's game to try and nullify the attacks from a strong Winton side who have won most of their games this season. The plan worked initially as the game was really tight for the whole first half. Winton had a chance to take the lead early on but shot wide. Other than that neither side had any chances in the first half as the sides cancelled each other out. Just before half time Winton took the lead which was a blow but we kept our heads up and stuck to the gameplan.
Just after half time Alex McGrory chased a seemingly lost ball, dispossessed the defender and struck a shot well that was superbly saved by the Winton keeper. There was nothing in the game and Grayson Evans also had a chance to equalise, again saved by the Winton keeper. The 2nd goal was always going to be key and it was Winton who got it via a huge stroke of luck when a wicked deflection saw the Winton forward clear through, who added his teams second goal with about 10 minutes left. Beechy knew they had to gamble and pushed players forward to try to get back in the game but in doing so left ourselves short at the back, and Winton scored two late goals to seal their victory but the game was much closer than the scoreline suggests.
Player of the Match today was Sam Omoregie who has been playing well in recent weeks and was solid at the back again today putting in a great performance to keep the Winton forwards at bay.

Beechfield STORM just edged a thrilling contest against Urmston Athletic, securing a hard-fought victory in a game packed with goals, saves and moments of real quality.
First Half:
Storm started brightly, with Louie opening the scoring after a well-worked assist from Reni. Urmston responded with pressure, but Harry was sharp in goal, making an early save to keep them at bay.Louie then struck again to double the lead, showing great composure in front of goal. Urmston pulled one back to reduce the arrears, but Storm quickly reasserted control, with Louie completing his first-half hat-trick with Storm's third goal. .
Reni then got in on the act, adding a fourth goal for Storm, but Urmston kept themselves in the game, scoring just before half-time to reduce the deficit.
Harry made another crucial save just before the break to ensure Storm took a two-goal lead into the second half.
Second Half:
Urmston came out fighting, determined to close the gap, and they managed to bring the score closer.
However, Louie once again stepped up at the crucial moment, scoring his fourth goal of the game and get a fifth for Beechy. Harry was kept busy in goal, pulling off another vital save, but Urmston refused to give in, scoring again to set up a tense finish.
The boys had to dig deep in the closing stages of this closely contested game, showing great defensive work to hold on for the win. While they displayed strong resilience, there are still areas to refine in training to ensure they continue to improve as a team. Well done, Storm! ⛈️
*Winton Fusion versus Beechfield THUNDER U/7's
THUNDER came up against a very organised Winton side who dominated most of the match in the first half. Thunder did their utmost to get into the match in the first half and with the half time score in favour of the home side the second half was a lot more encouraging, with Ronnie Green getting the first goal for Thunder with one of his trademark strikes. Thunders 2nd goal could have done with VAR as it wasn’t clear on goal scorer due to the scramble to finish it off into the back of the net. Gideon James got Thunders next two goals with two powerful strikes, regardless of the score the boys kept plugging away and the positives were that the boys didn't give up all match and there were some good individual performances. Special mentions to our Trophy winners with George Lawson getting his first Player of the Match Trophy since coming back from injury and parents player of the match Roman Ashworth yet again showing the work rate he puts in every game, and most improved player Freddie who is starting to enjoy his playing time in matches and showed character all the game.
*Ordsall Park versus Beechy U/9's THUNDER
Under 9s THUNDER had a fast start away at Ordsall Cubs on Saturday morning. Within minutes of the start some good link up play down the left hand side between Chase Sixsmith and Oscar Spencer resulted in a neat finish from Oscar for an early lead. The team were camped in the opposition half and passing the ball around confidently. A corner from Oscar saw Grayson Owen volley home for the goal of the game. And it was Grayson again with a strike in the corner that increased this lead. As the half drew to a close Ordsall broke away twice for goalkeeper George Kelly to produce good blocks. And an Ordsall penalty on the stroke of half time was saved by George. The second half was played out largely untroubled, with Harrison Spencer combining with the other forwards to create numerous chances. Grayson beat the goalkeeper to the ball to roll home and Chase poked home in the final stages for a deserved goal. Whilst being largely a spectator George made his best save, spreading to block another 1 on 1. And it was he that shared Player of the Match with Grayson who hit home a superb and first Beechy hat trick for him. One of the most pleasing performances of the season resulting in a brilliant win.
Challenge Cup Semi Finals*
Urmston Meadowside U/8s Lions versus Beechfield United STORM U/8s
Goals:
⚽️⚽️⚽️ Imad
⚽️⚽️ Henry
⚽️ James
Assists:
🅰️ Imad
🅰️ Fred
🅰️ Reggie
STORM started playing upfield with Vincent in net, Reggie and Fred assuming defensive duties and Henry and Imad taking the wings.
More often than not Storm are fast starters and almost scored from kick off, Imad to Fred, fred to Henry who’s shot was saved. Storm kept pushing with Henry’s movement being critical and Reggie allowing Fred licence to roam - finding space this time was Imad who stung the fingertips of the goal keeper.
If Storm felt like it was going to be easy - they were mistaken. Meadowside winning the battle in midfield and having a long shot tipped over the bar by Vincent who has been on really strong form. He then saved the team punching the resulting corner well out of the box. While chances were being created though not finished it was top scorer Imad who took the game - dribbling in from a kick in he danced around the edge of the box, cleanly striking and nailing it into the bottom corner.
Beechy had more chances - some fantastic play from Henry who played inside to Fred then to Imad who fired wide. Also subs combining and George placed a through ball for James who couldn’t get the power to beat the gk. Closely contested Urmston found a way through leaving their striker and Storms 1v1 specialist in Alfie - acrobatically diving to cover though the shot went narrowly wide of the post.
Starting the second half Storm were urged to make their good play count - the goals duly came. First Imad produced some good work to win the ball back on the by line, played out to Henry who smacked it from the edge of the box blind siding the keeper. Shortly after collecting the ball in midfield Fred played through Imad who took it on and finished cleanly with his weak foot.
Dominant in the 2nd half Storm continued to control the game. Imad completing a spectacular hat trick from a corner finding its way past everyone and nestling into the bottom corner.
James who had a host of chances battled upfront causing confusion in defence and in goal; ball scooped by Henry who showed his predatory instincts and squeezed the ball past all for his brace.
The final goal for Storm came as Reggie on for Fred, placed a beautiful through ball - James through made no mistake with the bench of Imad, Fred and Vincent going wild!
In a half of very little chances a pot shot from Urmston deflected and found itself into the bottom corner in an unstoppable shot. Storm chasing an unprecedented double at the SDFL and book their place at the challenge cup final!!!
MOTM:
A host of shout outs from the team - Vincent had one for some great keeping, James for his determination and Reggie for his solid playmaking & selfless defensive efforts. The MOTM was shared between *Imad*, hat trick hero for the day and *Henry* whose magic and goals came at a decisive time with the game in the balance.
*Beechfield United U/11's LIGHTNING v B Pro Raiders
In the Manchester Youth Super League Beechy Under 11's LIGHTNING (9v9) were involved in a strange game with B Pro Raiders. From start to finish Lightning absolutely dominated the match and Beechy had at least 30 corners and 20 free kicks and numerous other chances but the ball would not go into their opponents net. The goal Lightning conceded was a freak mistake from the unlucky Beechy keeper that left both the players and team coaches scratching their heads. Despite the defeat there were so many positives to take from the game and if Lightning play at their best for the rest of the season they will beat most teams. Man of the Match was Junior Davies who replaced Beechy's injured goalkeeper at half time and did a fantastic job.
*Beechy U/8's TORNADOES v Flixton Junior Pumas
Securing a fourth win from the last five games in the Salford and Districts Junior League were Beechy Under 8's TORNADOES. Away to Flixton Junior Pumas in the Yellow Group the Tornadoes secured a thoroughly deserved victory thanks to a another high scoring display. Brayden Gilligan, Billy Boyd and Aldo McFarlane got the goals for Beechy who are top of their section following this result.
*Beechy U/10's STORM v Old Trafford Panthers
The Under 10's STORM only had six players available for their Red Group fixture with Old Trafford Panthers. In a close end to end game the Beechy Boys worked their socks off and both their attitude and efffort were faultess. With ten minutes left to play the teams shared six goals but Old Trafford added three more and won the game while Bobby Lowe went off injured during that period. All the lads were awarded parents Man of the Match while the other M-O-M went to goalkeeper George Savage who had a brilliant game in which he made some fantastic saves, was nice and vocal plus good with his distribution. Oscar Pugh and Bobby Lowe were the goalscorers for the Storm.
