- Junior Section Match Details 28th/29th April 2018
Following two successive defeats Beechfield United Under 16's Storm saw their hopes of Division 1 honours receive a setback. Beechy lost 5-0 away to Flixton Junior Falcons in midweek then on Saturday morning the Storm were at home to Culcheth Athletic Daten but United ended up on the wrong end of a 5-4 score line. Man of the Match Callum Lomax, Kaiden Craven and Tom Gorton were the goal scorers.
Making it fives games unbeaten were the Under 14's Tornadoes who's goals scored tally in those games rose to thirty three after a 6-2 victory over Prestwich Marauders. Beechy who led 3-0 at half time scored goals via Fernleys Davies (2) Max O'Brien, Mathew Bennett, Billy Wadeson and Man of the Match Harry Fletcher.
In their friendly match with Flixton Junior Hawks the Under 13's Tornadoes fought back after being 2-0 and 3-1 down to earn themselves a creditable 3-3 draw, but both teams could have tasted victory at the final whistle. Some wasteful finishing from the Tornadoes plus a brilliant display by Beechy keeper Carl Looby meant the teams had a share of the spoils. Leading marksman Alan Kay took his personal tally to thirty two goals while also on target were Max Chidgey and Tommy Roberts who scored his first ever goal for the team. Ben Kay and Jamie Butterworth shared the Best Player award.
Beechy Under 13's Thunder were at home to Barr Hill Aces who needed just one point to be crowned Division 2 champions. Thunder got off to a great start when William Whipday sent a hopeful ball into the area which was misjudged by the Barr Hill keeper and the ball ended up in the net. Unfortunately for Thunder that was the only time in the game they would hold the lead because Barr Hill equalised less than a minute later then scored two more goals in quick succession plus other goals gave the visitors a handsome half time lead. The second half created a similar pattern as Beechy struggled to keep the ball and though Thunder scored three goals through Callum Snaith, Prince Idusuyi and Jacob Lacey they were quickly cancelled out by Barr Hill who were on a roll as they continued to dominate the game. Beechy who lost 9-4 named Louie Percival as their Man of the Match.
The impressive unbeaten run by the Under 13's Storm stretched to six games when Beechy secured a 4-2 home win over AFC Monton Thunder. In this Saturday morning Division 1 fixture goals by Adam Rothwell (2) Finley Share and Man of the Match Joe Newton guaranteed the win. Previously the Storm were in action in midweek against top of the table outfit Moorside Rangers Red. The teams shared a 2-2 score line and on target for Beechy were Adam Rothwell and Finley Share. Voted Best Player was Ben Garlick.
Man of the Match Ben Delaney scored the Under 12's Storm's consolation goal in their Division 1 away game at Barr Hill Aces. It was 1-1 at half time but Barr Hill eventually claimed all three points with two more goals.
Fully rewarded following a good performance were the Under 11's Typhoon (9v9) who played Winton Wanderers Gladiators at home in the Development Group Yellow Division. Two goals from Jamie Withington and one each by Daniel Hesketh, Charlie Harris and Cole Winstanley earned the Typhoon a deserved victory. Milonga Mututa collected the Man of the Match accolade.
Also in action in the Development Group Yellow Division were Beechy Under 11's Lightning (9v9) Beechy made the short trip for their away game against Swinton Junior Tigers and it was the hosts who won this encounter that produced nine goals. Mikey Sylvester was voted Man of the Match for the second time in seven days while Kyle Stafford and David Olidoy scored the goals.
Producing a below-par display were the Under 11's Storm (9v9) in their Development Group Red Division home game with Barr Hill Aces. Caden Gibson netted the Storm's only goal but there no Man of the Match award handed out.
Celebrating only their second win of the season were the Under 10's Hurricanes. Playing away at Barr Hill Clubs a jubilant Hurricanes outfit won this fixture by the odd goal in seven. Man of the Match Michael Munden, Rian Hands and Ethan Mangwiro got the goals.
A friendly match between the Under 10's Storm and Under 10's Tornadoes was won by the latter. Goals for the Tornadoes came courtesy of Joel Thorndyke, Oliver Percival, Sam Rowbottom, Ellis O'Brien-Walsh and Finley Fairhurst. Man of the Match was Freddie Wardle. In reply the Storm's Best Player Michael Walsh was also their lone goal scorer.
Sean Cosgrove was voted the Under 9's Hurricanes Man of the Match following the Development Group Yellow Division home game against Urmston Town Eagles. Beechy's squad for this fixture was: Oliver Dalton-Bunker, Joshua Whitehead, Daniel Robinson, Dillan Caldwell, Jamie Maher, Alfie Latham, Sean Cosgrove, Jaiesh Devani-White, Prestley Smith, Matthew Elliott.
Suffering their first defeat in six games were the Under 9's Tornadoes who played some excellent football throughout their home game with Swinton Junior Panthers. The visitors goalkeeper produced a great display in this Development Group Blue Division match but Beechy did manage to beat him twice thanks to goals from Oliver Nangle and Ethan Harris. The Tornadoes Best Player was Ebosele Oguname.
There was a second successive Sunday fixture for the Under 8's Lightning who travelled to play South Manchester Tigers. Brodie Mundy, Oscar Mather and a wonder goal from Man of the Match Kaylon Salisbury guaranteed Beechy victory in the Development Group Green Division.
At home to Barr Hill Aces the Under 8's Storm were guilty of a below average performance and were beaten by their opponents. In the Development Group Blue Division Beechy missed several decent chances but were rewarded with a consolation goal via a great finish from Riley Haney. Both makeshift goalkeepers Frankie Carter who was Man of the Match and Shay Winstanley produced superb displays.
A couple of goals by Harry Wallis was the only prize for Beechy Under 7's Storm after their Development Group Blue Division away game against a very good Moorside Rangers Blue team.
