Beechfield Thunder U7 versus Moorside Rangers
27.04.24

Originally a home fixture for the Thunder boys today but we opted for the safety of Moorside's Astro Pitch early in the week after the recent downpours making the Beechy fields a squelching bog. Thunder got off to a great start with some great passing from the back by Angelo and Elliot and are attacking play was constant, forcing Moorside on the back foot but we lacked the composure in front of goal squandering some good chances and that cost us towards the back end of the first half as a Moorside breakaway led them to take the lead with a scrappy goal sliding past Bobby the osprey who hadn't been called on up to that point. Thunder didn't give up and carried on with some great passing and dribbling play down the flanks from Reni which led to king Louie's superb finish into the far corner of the Moorside net accompanied with the legendary celebration. Into the second half and thunder started bright again and had Moorside on the back foot which reverted on some heavy tackles flying in on the ever brave Reni showing his resilience to carry on. Rio and Che showed their tenacity making some excellent runs and attempting some long range efforts, José making himself known with some good tackles and pressing play as Moorside struggled to tame the thunder storm ⚡. Again against the run play Moorside scored from a corner, the ball bouncing off the unfortunate Rio and past Bobby which caught the thunder keeper out by surprise. Into the back end of the second half the game became scrappy with the thunder boys being drawn into their own half by some good play from Moorside. Rio being called in for defensive duties taking a ball flush to the face shrugging it off and showing his strength to carry on. A late Moorside attack led to a 3rd goal and the thunder boys were left to ponder on the many chances they created but didn't convert. Overall the thunder boys were unlucky today after controlling large parts of the game and creating so many chances, one has to wonder if we had been on home soil would Moorside have been able to contend with the thunder storm. That chance of revenge will eventually come ⚡😁, man of the match was given to Rio, showing his resilience to carry on after an unfortunate own goal and taking a ball flush to the face 💪.
