An away derby game a stones throw away for the Thunder boys this morning at Moorside Rangers. The lads started the game really well putting Moorside under pressure, Elliot galloping down the right flank and Finley on the left. Che was unlucky not to put Thunder into the lead early on with a shot from range forcing the Moorside keeper into making a decent save. Elliot again making a great run found space for a rocket that flew just over the crossbar. Angelo was making some good interceptions and trying to play in Che but Moorside took the lead against the run of play with a looping shot from range that bounced over Bobby's head and into the net. Che was quick to reply for Thunder with a well worked shooting chance from the right which he slotted in superbly. Ralph came into the game and began to mix it up in the middle of the pitch and put pressure on the Moorside defence. Elliot again making some excellent runs down the wing nearly found the net with a great strike that just flew inches past the post. Moorside managed to take the lead with a lovely strike from range that was just too high for Bobby to reach, again against the run of play. José came into the game and instantly made his presence known and his work would pay off when he managed to get Thunder's leveller before the half time break. Moorside got back into lead shortly into the second half with another strike from range that found it's way into the roof of the net. Declan was making some good passes and interceptions with the game looking evenly balanced. Moorside would add another from a shot come cross that bounced off the unfortunate Declan and trickled just over the goal line. Thunder carried on searching for a third and it was José who added his second after breaking through the moorside defence and finishing nicely. Moorside found their fifth goal with another long range strike that flew in the roof of the net and must of had Bobby thinking he needed some wings in today's game 🦅. Thunder pressed until the end but just couldn't get the rub of the green with the Moorside keeper making some excellent saves. A very close game in the end which the lads were unfortunate not to come out on top. A smaller pitch than usual made it a little bit trickier for the lads but overall a really good performance ⚡.
Man of Match - Elliot, made some cracking runs and tackles and on another day could of had a hat-trick with the amount of shots that were inches from flying in.
