- Junior Section Match Details 7/5/2022
There was another busy Saturday morning in the Junior Section especially at Beech Farm Playing Fields.
*On Saturday morning at Beech Farm Playing Fields Beechfield United Under 12's Tornadoes (9v9) had a friendly match with Winton Wanderers Warriors. Two goals from Stewart Kay plus one apiece for Josh Beddows and Oscar Mather secured the Tornadoes a 4-2 victory. Feranmi Oloforunsu was Beechy's Man of the Match.
*The Under 7's Storm played Salford Storm Tornadoes which is normally a close game between the teams. Beechy started really well with the passing and movement as good as Manager Ryan Pugh had seen this season and Storm took an early lead through Alfie Heighway. Two goals from harry Heathcote-Caire put Beechy in a strong position as the game went on but Salford Storm took their chances which led to a tight end to the game. Alfie Heighway was on target again earning himself the Man of the Match award.
*In a rehearsal for their upcoming final in a couple of weeks Beechy Under 9's Tornadoes met Salford Storm Tornadoes. Despite dominating most of the play the length of the grass slowed down the Tornadoes style of play but they stuck to their principles of playing out from the back and down the wing. Beechy kept the pressure on their opponents which forced Salford Storm to adopt the long ball tactic but some good defending limited the Storm to only a few chances. On target in this Tornadoes victory were Man of the Match Maxwell Otmotayo who scored two fantastic goals, Jack Hoatson, Archie Charles, Kai Barker and Daniel Badewa.
*In the first half of their home game against Winton Titans the Under 10's Storm defended superbly with both Jacob Wood and Brody Burns in great form while Beechy goalkeeper Sophia Price made some very good saves and her handling was first class. Storm were dominant in midfield through Daniel Wharton, Aiden Gradwell, Thomas Brady and Robert Wagner and upfront Oliver Cooper and Kristian Georgiev ran the Winton defence ragged. Storm thoroughly deserved their two goal lead at half time but unfortunately Beechy were unable to maintain their high levels of play in the second half. Gradually Winton Titans got a better foothold in the contest and Storm made a few changes including the dependable Harrison Church in a bid to strengthen the defence. But assisted by some generous refereeing decisions the visitors were back in the game and following an equaliser Winton won the match in the final minute from the penalty-spot courtesy of the last kick of the game.
*Beechy Under 10's Thunder met Monton Sports and in this home game could easily have been three goals ahead but missed some decent chances. Monton took the lead but Thunder equalised via Jackson Humm who raced through the Monton defence and gave the keeper no chance with a stunning finish. The second half remained competitive and Beechy conceded two goals before substitute Nataniel Wojciak hammered home the ball to reduce the arrears from the penalty spot. Thunder then had chances to equalise but were guilty of trying to walk the ball into the net in the latter stages.
*Faced with an early morning kick-off the Under 13's Hurricanes travelled to play Swinton Jaguars and due to injuries Beechy had only thirteen fit players available. After a positive start the Hurricanes went a goal down totally against the run of play following Jaguars first real attack then a similar situation resulted in the hosts going 2-0 up. Swinton Jaguars increased their lead in the second half when after a free kick Beechy keeper Luca Mobey produced a great save and though the ball was hacked clear somehow it found its way back into the area then into the net. Due to a few tired legs and a loose pass the Hurricanes gifted a Jaguars striker an easy close range finish which gave the hosts a four goal ahead. Beechy reduced the arrears with a great solo goal from Man of the Match Joshua Whitehead who displayed brilliant strength, determination and terrific footwork before he fired the ball low into bottom corner of the net. Following a free kick from the halfway line the big Jaguars striker found space behind a tired Hurricanes defence and netted the hosts fifth goal to complete the scoring.
*At Littleton Road the Under 14's Storm were in action against Tiki Taka United and despite playing well and controlling most of the game Beechy suffered a 3-2 defeat. In this Section E fixture on target for Storm were Joshua Kilfoyle and Joshua Rotherham but Beechy could easily have added to their goals tally after creating numerous chances. James Cadwaladr was voted Storm's Man of the Match.
*The Under 15's Typhoon had a tough eighty minutes in their Section D away game at Horwich St Marys Vipers. The Beechy defence never came to terms with their opponents tactics and if it wasn't for an overworked Man of the Match performance from goalkeeper Peter Ellis it could have been worse. Beechy who suffered a heavy defeat scored consolation goals via a free kick from Sonny O'Brien, Will Bentham who converted a cross by Jamie Withington and the hard working Joseph Bothamley.
