After making a thirty mile trip Beechfield United 1st Team got back to winning ways in the Manchester Football League with a 5-3 away victory over Chapel Town on Saturday 6th May 2017. With Kurtis Lee restored to an attacking role United looked a threat straight from the kick off in this Division 1 fixture and it was no surprise when they took the lead after fifteen minutes. Good work on the ball by Jamie Sinnott saw him get to the byline and deliver a perfect cross and Louis Duff ghosted in unmarked at the back post for a simple tap in finish. Beechy continued to dominate the match but on one of Chapel Town's rare attacks the home side managed an unlikely equaliser when a midfield player saw his effort come back off the post into the path of a Chapel forward who passed the ball into an empty net. But United were undeterred and playing the better football regained the lead when after some great build up play Chris Ferris delivered a great ball behind the Chapel defence and Kurtis Lee set-up another simple finish for Louis Duff who had made another perfectly timed run into the area.

The second half began in the same fashion as the first with Beechy on top but it wasn't until the hour mark they got their reward when Rob Lockley and Kurtis Lee harassed a defender and the keeper into making mistakes and the latter tapped home his twentieth league goal of the season. Ten minutes later it got even better as Kurtis Lee again forced an error from the Chapel Town keeper and made it 4-1 while at the same time scoring United's 100th league goal of the season. Apparently game over but Chapel Town had other ideas and after Beechy made a couple of substitutions they relaxed their grip on the game and conceded a soft second goal with fifteen minutes remaining. But after missing a glut of chances United managed to restore their three goal advantage when substitute Alfie Belcher played a lovely through ball and Kurtis Lee finished with aplomb and completed his hat trick in style for 5-2. But with five minutes remaining some slack defending allowed Chapel Town to score their third and final goal of the afternoon and complete an entertaining game. United end the season on Saturday 13th May at Salford Sports Village when they play Manchester Central.
