Ending their season with a 3-1 defeat in the North Bury Junior Football League were the Under 14's Thunder boys who were away in the Championship Division to Rossendale Valley Tigers. During the first half chances were few and far between but ten minutes into the second half Beechy took the lead via Prince Idusuyi. Unfortunately for Thunder they gave a penalty away and conceded two more goals and never recovered. Beechy did have a few chances late in the game but Rossendale Valley defended well making it difficult for Thunder to try and force at least a draw. Named Thunder's Star Player was Taonga Mututa.
In the Bolton Bury and District League Beechy Under 13's Storm played their final game of the season. Against opponents Bolton County Dynamos who are chasing Section C title honours Beechy started well and passing the ball with confidence kept County at arms length. But a shocking decision resulted in one of Storm's players receiving a sin-bin punishment for eight minutes and County then took a 1-0 lead. Following another equally shocking decision by the match official County added a second goal despite their player clearly in an offside position before he put the ball in the net. Beechy came back into the game and had a couple of chances from corners but Storm conceded again and trailed 3-0 at half time. Some brilliant play in the second half by Beechy allowed them to control the match and following good work by Jayden Okoli Storm reduced the arrears through Tawonga Chirwa. Chances continued to be on offer to both teams and after a mistake in midfield County won possession and the hosts took advantage to score a fourth goal. Despite the defeat this was a great performance from Beechy who definitely suffered from those very poor decisions. Johnny Walsh who produced a battling display was voted Man of the Match. Final Score Bolton County 4 v Beechy Storm 1. Three days earlier Storm had an evening game when they travelled to play Horwich St Marys Rockets. Tawab Ogunleye, Leo Barrett and Tawonga Chirwa were on target as Beechy won this league fixture 3-0.
Beechy Under 12's Lightning (9v9) completed their fixtures for the 2018/2019 season with a resounding win against Winton Junior Blues. In a totally one-sided contest Beechy hit double figures and the three points gained secured Lightning's promotion into Division 2. The whole team shared the Man of the Match award while the goals came via Daniel Williams (5) Kyle Stafford (3) David Olidoy (2) Joel Idujusi (2) Jake Barrington (2) Matthew Corry and Zane Davies. This victory capped a great season all-round for Lightning's players and team officials.
Ten goals were on the menu when the Under 12's Typhoon met Ladybridge Pumas in an 11-a-side friendly match. It proved to be a bit of an eye opener for Typhoon's players and due to several mistakes Beechy were behind at the break. But goals by Jamie Withington and trialist Alfie Wilkinson made the final score more respectable. Ladybridge won the game 6-4.
To prepare for the move up to 9v9 football next season Beechy Under 10's Lightning played a friendly game with Prestwich Lightning which saw both teams having to adapt to a much bigger pitch. Beechy took time to adjust to the new team positions and passing range but by the second half were playing with a lot more confidence. The Beechy lads performed well against their opponents who are current leaders of the Division above Lightning's Division and United's players earned genuine praise from the opposition coach. This was a good start to Under 11's football and special mentions go to goalkeeper Jake Lewis and Charlie "Donut" Green for excellent performances.
Finding themselves two goals down after only ten minutes the Under 9's Lightning players quickly got their act together and came roaring back in their Blue Group home game with neighbours Moorside Rangers Yellows. Two goals from Oliver Eckersley and one by Man of the Match Jeano Baker put Beechy ahead to set up a possible victory but Rangers equalised with the last kick of the game. Overall Beechy were far the better team creating chance after chance only to come up against an in-form Rangers keeper who had an outstanding game.
Also playing a Moorside Rangers outfit were Beechy Under 9's Thunder who produced a great performance in the first half of this Yellow Group fixture. Thunder held a commanding three goal lead over Rangers Red at half time and Beechy who were playing better than ever soon added a fourth goal in the second period but despite putting everything into the game Thunder conceded a goal but still looked comfortable with ten minutes to go. Somehow Rangers found a way back into the match and scored three times in the final five minutes to force a draw but Beechy Manager Anthony Nuttall said after the game he couldn't criticise any of the boys as every lad had played really well throughout the contest. Goals from Jaylen Jones, Harry Norcross and two from Charlie Smethurst should have been enough to earn the win. An excellent display by Reece Leane earned him the Man of the Match award.
The Under 9's Yellow Group game between the Under 9's Tornadoes and Stretford Victoria Albion proved to be a tough match for both teams. On a poor pitch accurate passing of the ball was difficult but all eight Tornadoes players worked hard against the Supplementary Cup finalists. Stretford Victoria had the better of a goalless first half during which Beechy used two stand-in keepers Stewart Kay and Logan McFeely who both made some important saves. Back in his normal position Stewart Kay grabbed a scrappy but deserved equaliser and if it wasn't for the bravery of the Stretford Victoria keeper the Tornadoes could have been celebrating a victory. It was difficult to choose a Man of the Match but it eventually went to Bailey Breeze who put in a real shift when playing either out wide or upfront.
Producing one of the best performances of the season were Beechy Under 7's who's opponents were Deans Youth Sports. After an evenly balanced start and exchange of goals Beechy began to dominate this Division 1 encounter with some solid attacking football and resolute defending. When called into action Beechy keeper Sophie Price showed a safe pair of hands and she was supported by the calming Thomas Brady who stepped forward from out of defence to score the goal of the game when he lobbed the ball over the Deans keeper from twenty yards. Thanks to Aiden Gladwell's excellent passing, some forward bursts from midfield by Man of the Match Daniel Wharton and numerous mazy runs by Jacob Wood and Oliver Cooper Beechy ran out comfortable winners.
