- Friendly Match Victory For Beechy Ladies
On Sunday 8th May 2022 Beechfield United Ladies organised a Friendly Match at home with Bolton Ladies who play in the Lancashire FA Womens County League.
*Included in Beechy's squad were Natasha Herity who previously played for the club in 2017/2018 and Megan Kenyon a member of the Girls team for four seasons. Straight from the kick-off Beechy dominated possession and shots by both Monique Pollard and Stacy Partridge just missed the target. Amie Barrett, Rosie Moorcroft, Becky Topping and Kirsten Elrick were all involved in some great quick passing moves before Beechy took the lead in the 9th minute. Rosie and Monique combined in an attack on the left wing and the latter sent the ball into the area for Aimee Greenwood who fired it past the keeper. Following a corner taken by Kirsten Beechy went 2-0 up via Monique Pollard who's half volley deflected off a County defender and into the net.
As they continued to dominate possesssion Beechy created more excellent accurate passing moves and a move between Rosie and Becky ended when Becky forced a fine save from the overworked visitors keeper who was then left stranded when a powerful strike by Monique rattled the crossbar. Beechy's defence Kirsten, Megan Mirfield, Julie Ward and Shauna Smith dealt with most of Bolton County's counter-attacks allowing keeper Megan Kenyon a trouble free first half. After twenty five minutes Becky Topping was replaced by Natasha Herity who was soon involved in the action as Beechy maintained control of the match.
Another swift counter-attack by Bolton County resulted in an effort from the visitors No10 drifting wide of the target just before Beechy led 3-0 courtesy of a spectacular goal by Stacy Partridge. A superb move involving Rosie, Amie Barratt, Monique and Natasha won Beechy another corner and after Kirsten's flag kick Aimee Greenwood sent a header over the crossbar. Becky Topping who was back on the pitch at the start of the second half scored Beechy's fourth goal via a brilliant finish when she curled the ball past the keeper from outside the area. Megan Kenyon made a fairly comfortable save when Bolton County launched a couple of breakaway moves but Beechy quickly put the pressure back on the opponents.
Aimee Greenwood supplied the pass that sent Natasha racing into the area before she slotted the ball past the keeper but the goal was disallowed for offside. More chances were on offer as Beechy continued to dictate the pace of the game and thanks to a pinpoint pass from Monique goal number five arrived after a great finish by Nathasha Herity. The visitors worked hard all over the pitch but Julie, Megan and Shauna foiled County's attempt to force a consolation goal. A pass from Julie found Aimee Greenwood who sent a terrific through ball onto Natasha who's decisive finish made it 6-0. Another powerful effort by Monique hit the crossbar prior to Beechy adding their seventh goal when Monique scored from close range after Kirsten's well delivered corner. Another corner taken by Kirsten resulted in a goalmouth scramble and via a stylish finish Natasha netted Beechy's eighth goal as she achieved her hat trick. Amie Barratt was rewarded for a dynamic all-round display when she completed the scoring thanks to a stunning finish from the outside the area.
