Beechy U/11's Storm made it 8 games unbeaten, 6 wins and 2 draws in a reverse fixture from last week against Skills United. This week the boys started where they left off last Sturday, dominating the game from the first minute and we found ourselves three goals up inside 15 mins, all three wonderfully take goals by Ismail Adetona, showing pace to beat the back line after great work from Joel Momoh and Denholm Brooks playing three sublime through balls capped off with three lovely finishes. Skills pulled one back after probably the only defensive lapse in the first half to reduce the deficit to two but Beechy quickly restored our three goal advantage after more great work on the left from Austin Pierce, beating his man before rolling the ball to Ismail who side footed for his and his and our 4th goal.
We gave Ismail a rest from his first half heroics especially considering the heat but Beechy continued to dominate the game, playing some great football from defence, through midfield and it wasn’t long before the ball came out wide to Denholm Brooks who crossed perfectly to Austin Pierce who took a touch and fired home into the bottom corner from the edge of the box. Ismail re-entered the fray and was causing chaos on the left hand side now. Beating his man repeatedly but we were unable to find the finish, until a nice 1-2 between Joel and Ismail, Joel finding Denholm Brooks who played a lovely first time ball through to an on rushing Max Schofield who slotted home a lovely left foot finish. Skills pulled another one back against the run of play but Beechy continued to press for more and it wasn’t long before Austin was set free by Barkley Pope, he chopped inside onto his right and curled the ball over the keeper for our seventh goal. Not to be outdone and certainly deserving after a fantastic individual performance Ismail then picked up the ball on the edge of the box and smashed one into the bottom corner for his fifth and our eighth and that’s where the scoring ended despite hitting the bar and post late on.
It was a complete performance by the boys, some great football played along the way and scoring for fun.
We had a few contenders for player of the match but we had to give it to Ismail after his fabulous 5 goal return.
