On Wednesday 9th May Beechfield United Under 14's Tornadoes ended their 2017/2018 season in the Bolton Bury and District League with a 4-1 home win over FC Bridgewater FC. For Manager Stuart O'Brien and the players it has been a highly successful campaign that has seen the team win eleven of their sixteen Section E fixtures. Fernley Davies (2) Ellis Kenny, Mathew Bennett got the goals against FC Bridgewater.
Damion Broughton and Adam Rothwell scored the goals for the Under 13's Storm who lost 5-2 away to Boothstown FC on Thursday evening. Man of the Match was Finley Share. But the Storm quickly returned to winning ways on Saturday when the beat Culcheth Athletic Pythons 4-2 at Bolton Road Playing Fields. Man of the Match Ben Garlick, Damion Broughton, Luke Carr and Samuel Oludoyi were on target.
Beechy Under 12's Tornadoes (9v9) played one evening and one Saturday morning fixture in the Salford and District League. In midweek United had a Division 2 away game at Barr Hill Clubs and thanks to goals from Man of the Match Theo Valentine and Charlie Mulvenna celebrated a 2-0 victory. Then the Tornadoes were at home against neighbours Moorside Rangers Reds and following a physical game suffered a 3-1 defeat. Beechy's consolation goal came from Jack Fitton who scored via a superb free kick and Man of the Match voted for by the players parents was Manager Chris Wallis who gave the whole team wonderful support.
After three successive defeats the Under 11's Lightning (9v9) tasted victory again when they beat Prestwich FC Dragons. Goals for Beechy in this home game came courtesy of David Olidoy (Hat-Trick) Kyle Stafford and Player of the Match Matthew Corry.
Away to South Manchester FC on Sunday the Under 11's Typhoon (9v9) made a slow start as they adapted to their opponents artificial pitch. Beechy went two goals down but continued to display total commitment and despite a very good performance couldn't find a way to put the ball in the back of the net. Defender Freddie Latham received the Man of the Match award.
Some good football was played by the Under 11's Storm (9v9) in their Development Group Red Division away game at AFC Salford Juniors. A goal by Freddie Jackson gave Beechy the lead but Salford Juniors equalised during a goalmouth scramble. The Storm regained the lead in the second half when Freddie Jackson supplied a composed finish following a defensive error. But some slack defending gifted Salford Juniors a second equaliser then the hosts went in front via a fantastic strike and added a fourth goal in the closing stages. Alfie Gee was the Storm's Best Player.
For their last league game of the season before their Supplementary Cup final the Under 10's Tornadoes were away to Ladybridge Lightning. Two goals from Ellis O'Brien-Walsh secured the win for the Tornadoes who's Star Player was Joel Thorndyke.
The Under 10's Storm met local rivals Moorside Rangers Red for a friendly match at Beech Farm. Rangers won the game that included a couple of goals for the Storm scored by Joshua Kilfoyle and Saul Tagoe. Voted Man of the Match was Thomas Harnell.
Key players were absent due to illness and holidays as the Under 9's Hurricanes prepared for their Development Group Yellow Division away fixture with Prestwich Lightning. Man of the Match Jaiesh Devani-White netted a consolation goal for the Hurricanes.
An excellent all-round display by the Under 9's Tornadoes earned a fully deserved win over Barr Hill Diamonds. Goals by Oliver Nangle, Ethan Harris and Thomas Robinson secured the victory in the Development Group Blue Division. Following an outstanding performance Charlie Backhouse collected the Best Player award.
In their Development Group Blue Division away game against De La Salle Devils the Under 8's Storm fought back after going two goals down. A quick counter-attack started by first half keeper Frankie Carter ended with Shay Winstanley's goal reducing the arrears. Great pressure from both Noah Thorndyke and Riley Haney created chances for Shay Winstanley who completed his hat-trick that gave Storm the lead at half time. Beechy dealt with some pressure from their opponents at the start of the second half with Harry Whitter a key figure in defence. Now operating in an outfield position Frankie Carter produced a Man of the Match performance and was rewarded with several goals. Noah and Riley continued to work hard in midfield and the Storm's final goals total was nine.
Producing one of their best performances of the season were the Under 8's Lightning. In the Development Group Green Division Beechy played Moorside Rangers Red and there was a masterclass partnership from Deenraj Singh with two goals and Man of the Match Oliver Eckersley who netted five goals. Also on the Beechy score sheet were Kaylon Salisbury and Oscar Mather.
There were hat-trick's for Man of the Match Connor O'Sullivan, Harry Wallis and Ryden Coward as the Under 7's Storm created their best performance of the current campaign. On Saturday morning Beechy were at home to AFC Monton Reds in the Development Group Blue Division.
