- Junior Section Match Details 14th/15th May 2022
Perfect weather conditions greeted the players and officials as most of Beechfield United Junior Teams were in action on 14th & 15th May 2022.
*Beechfield United Under 13's Hurricanes were away to Salford Storm Tornadoes at Stott Lane Playing Fields. Beechy were still without four key players so just one substitute was on the bench for this SDJFL Division 1 fixture. In glorious sunshine and after creating nearly all the early chances the Hurricanes found themselves a goal down when the hosts opened the scoring with their first effort on target. The first half was end to end and Beechy were unluckly to still be a goal down when the whistle went for half time. Once again totally against the run of play Salford Storm doubled their lead via a great finish following a couple of lucky bounces of the ball and deflections.
The Hurricanes reduced the arrears when Oliver Nangle went on a mazy run and was fouled by a poor challenge winning Beechy a free kick and Joshua Whitehead who took charge of the dead ball situation hammered the ball into the roof of the net. Pushing for an equaliser Beechy were camped in their opponents half and Salford Storm created a perfect counter-attack and netted a third goal. Beechy were desperately unlucky to concede a fourth goal when a free kick caught in the wind took an horrible bounce and ended up in the back of the net. Daniel Robinson was named Man of the Match.
*The Under 12's Tornadoes (9v9) drew 3-3 following their Division 2 home game with De La Salle Rangers in a dress rehearsal for the forthcoming Supplementary Cup final. Beechy raced into a 2-0 lead courtesy of goals by Josh Beddows and Stewart Kay but in the second half De La Salle hit back three times to go infront. Beechy's goalkeeper Jack Lee was in great form making at least six excellent saves while Man of the Match Oscar Mather scored the Tornadoes equaliser deep in injury time. The Tornadoes could finish in a very respectable third place in the table if the beat champions Monton Sports in their last league game of the season.
*A depleated Beechy Under 15's Typhoon faced Swinton Cobras in their final BBDFL Section C home game and after keeper Peter Ellis withdrew due to an injury Reece James took on the goalies role and gave a solid display. Early in the game Typhoon went a goal after the referee failed to spot the Cobras forward was in an offside position when he received the ball. Gradually Beechy got a much better foothold in the match and it was no real surprise when they equalised after a brilliant pass from Man of the Match Sonny O'Brien allowed Will Bentham to race clear and add a decisive finish.
Despite dominating the rest of the first half Typhoon just couldn't get their noses in front and after the restart found themselves 2-1 down following a breakaway move from the visitors. Beechy quickly regained control and playing some great attacking football equalised when Ryan O'Sullivan met a well taken corner by Ronan Mullen and headed the ball home for 2-2. Typhoon produced wave after wave attacks and Jamie Withington, Daniel Hesketh and Ronan Mullen all went close to scoring a match winning goal.
*At Beech Farm the Under 10's Thunder met Salford United Devils and despite some excellent passing moves in the first half Beechy just couldn't make the breakthrough. A novice referee made some questionable decisions which didn't help matters but he did his best though he was obviously new to his officials role. Beechy's goalkeeper Leon Heathcote Clare saved a dubious penalty but Thunder found themselves two goals down at half time. Jackson Humm pulled a goal back with an excellently struck free kick but Beechy conceded two more goals and lost the game.
*Playing some of their best football of the season the Under 10's Storm were in spectacular form in their away game at Monton Sports. Goals from Oliver Cooper, Robert Wagner and Kristian Georgiev made sure Beechy ran out comfortable winners. The platform was set by the solid defensive performances from Sophia Price, Brody Burns and Jacob Wood supported in midfield by Daniel Wharton and Thomas Brady which enabled a dominant team display from start to finish.
*Beechy Under 8's Storm were involved in a brilliant end to end game of mini-soccer with Swinton Warriors. There were great performances all-round but Storm who lost the match could have scored at least five goals in the last few minutes. Kobe Glass who scored one of Beechy's goals was also named Man of the Match following his best performance of the season.
