BUFC Beechfield United Storm U7 v Collyhurst Youth AFC U7
Beechfield closed out their league season with an accomplished performance in a competitive friendly game against Collyhurst.
Tight start with both teams trying to break through with dribbles and breaks but being denied by some excellent defending both sides. The game did break to Beechy in the first half as both starting defenders inverted to attack - a fantastic cross on the right from Archie finding Freddie who had broken forward ahead of the defence to score in the box - poking the ball ahead of the keeper and defender.
Beechy trying to dribble through with multiple attempts from Archie, Ralph, George and Henry though with a couple of academy players on show from opponents (including the goal keeper) making a number of smart saves & their big defenders competing with our marshalled. However Beechy showing when they are on the ball passing they could break them down - a great pass and move from James in the middle finding Archie who finished fantastically into the bottom corner from the edge of the box, a bit of a trademark finish nowadays!
Closest to a 3rd goal in the first half came from Henry who managed to ghost two defenders and took a spectacular save from the goal keeper to stop it.
Second half began with a debut from new player Imad who made an immediate impact - the warning signs with a rapid break and a shot over. Imad's pace causing havoc and after winning the ball up the field, taking the ball into the penalty area was fouled - though struck well the subsequent penalty agonisingly went wide!
His head never dropped and goals 3 and 4 came from the new man squeezing the ball past the goalie a couple of minutes from the miss and the 4th his tenacity causing a goal keeper error toward the right of the goal with the ball trundling over the line.
On the defensive side; we saw Henry again getting involved with a near post clearance from a certain goal, George’s pace at the back shoring the defence with accurate passing outfield. Alfie & Vincent’s flawless and commanding performance in net led the team to a clean sheet. Distribution was also spot on from our keepers today starting many of the attacks from the back.
Great preparation and a solid game from the Storm!

MOTM:
*Imad* - players vote and the coaches; a fantastic second half performance - a brace and his pace causing so many issues for the opponents today. A great debut!
