- Salford and District Football League Finals
Six Beechfield United Junior Section teams were involved in Supplementary Cup Finals played on Saturday 20th & Sunday 21st May 2017 at Bury FC Training Facility Carrington Lane Carrington M31 4AA.
Making a slow start in their Supplementary Cup B final against AFC Monton Lions were Beechy Under 7's Storm. After a disappointing first half the Storm were better organised and played some quality football in the second period. On target with both goals for Beechy was Harry Whitter and voted the Storm's Man of the Match was Noah Thorndyke. A great day on the whole for all Players, Team Officials and Parents.
Parkwyddn Phoenix were the Under 9's Storm's opponents in the Supplementary Cup C final on Sunday Morning. Despite losing the game all team personal thoroughly enjoyed the occasion. Goals for Beechy were scored by Man of the Match James Cadwalader and Joshua Kilfoyle.
In their Supplementary Cup A final with AFC Salford Juniors the Under 10's Storm made a terrific start and raced into a two goal lead. But Beechy never really dominated the match and Salford Juniors who won the game took advantage and punished a few unforced errors by the Storm. Freddie Jackson and Sonny O'Brien got the goals and Josh McLoughlin was voted Man of the Match.
The Under 11's Storm (9v9) were celebrating after winning the Supplementary B final following a fully deserved victory over Flixton Pumas. The first half was evenly balanced with both teams being rewarded with a goal apiece. Taking control of the second half Beechy played some brilliant soccer and added two more goals that guaranteed the winners trophy. United's goal scorers were Kaiden McClean, Ben Delaney and Josh Everall.
Beechy Under 13's Tornadoes met Culcheth Athletic Daten in the Supplementary Cup B final and the match was an entertaining end to end encounter. The result could have gone either way but it was Culcheth Athletic who eventually celebrated following a 2-1 victory. Billy Wadeson collected the Man of the Match Award and Charlie Wallwork netted the Tornadoes consolation goal.
There were goals galore in the Under 15's Supplementary Cup A final between Beechy Under 15's Storm and Manchester Maccabi Broughton that ended with a 6-5 win for the Storm. Wasting several easy chances early in the game United found themselves a goal down but quickly re-discovering the finishing touch the Storm raced into a 3-1 lead. The goals continued to flow and at one stage Beechy went 5-3 up but Maccabi fought back and made it 5-5. There was a tense finish to the game played in totally the right spirit and with roughly ten minutes left to play Man of the Match Jason Smith who scored a total of four goals hit United's match winner. Also on target were Joe Cox and Marcus Belcher.
