- Junior Section Match Details 22nd/23rd May 2018
Beechfield United Under 17's Tornadoes completed their Bolton Bury and District League fixtures with a evening away game against Ringley Park Rangers. Despite a few players being unavailable Beechy still had enough quality on the pitch to have won this Section B match but after making a disastrous start the Tornadoes suffered a 4-3 defeat. Making the worst possible start United found themselves 2-0 down in less than six minutes following some awful defending. Looking for an immediate response Beechy created a few counter-attacks with Lucas Morgan and Kai Mitchell involved down the left flank and in the 10th minute United reduced the arrears courtesy of a clinical finish from Jacob Wazo. But the hosts quickly put the pressure back onto the Tornadoes and Ben Sykes made two vital clearances before the Ringley Park No11 put his side 3-1 up. This typical end of the season game featured slightly different styles of play from both teams.
Ringley Park adopted the long ball tactic while the Tornadoes always attempted to produce some attractive football. A tremendous volley by Kai Mitchell rattled the crossbar before he scored United's second goal from the penalty-spot in the 34th minute after a Ringley defender grabbed a handful of Joe Furlong's shirt. Following a corner Beechy were almost level just before half time but an effort by Mason White was wide of the target. Early in the second half United faced a spell of pressure as Ringley Park found a decent attacking rhythm and forcing another corner the hosts took a 4-2 lead. The Tornadoes keeper Lee Prescott was forced to make a fine reaction save turning the ball onto the crossbar then defender Bailey Sullivan produced a great ball winning tackle when the Ringley No9 looked certain to score after a mazy run.
Harry Cottrill continued to feature prominently in midfield and his pass sent Rakeem Williams on a blistering solo run that ended with a powerful shot on target forcing a mistake from the Ringley keeper and Jacob Wazo netted the rebound for 4-3. While Beechy looked confident enough they could force at least a draw in the last fifteen minutes the finish was missing following some solid attacking play. Ringley Park always threatened to add more goals but United survived another attacking surge from their opponents and Man of the Match Lucas Morgan and Joe Furlong were key figures in the closing stages.
Away to Manchester Maccabi Broughton for their final match of the season were Beechy Under 13's Tornadoes. This Salford and District League Division 2 fixture was action packed throughout and finished as a 5-5 draw. Goals for the Tornadoes came via Ronan Courtney, Keelan Jones and a hat-trick for Alan Kay who has won the Tornadoes Golden Boot award with 38 goals this season. Jamie Butterworth was voted Best Player.
The first forty minutes of the 9v9 match between United's Under 11's Typhoon and Under 11's Lightning teams was a closely fought affair. Lightning twice equalised through Man of the Match Matthew Corry and Kyle Stafford after goals for Typhoon from Charlie Harris and Harley Bentley. But Typhoon gained the ascendancy and scored four unanswered goals, two from Joseph Bothamley plus one each for Cole Winstanley and Sam Henderson. Jamie Withington hit the crossbar with a long range effort that would have been the goal of the season. Named Typhoon's Man of the Match was Harley Bentley.
