- Junior Section Match Details 23rd to 28th May 2017
Several Beechfield United Junior Section teams completed their fixtures for the 2016/2017 season.
There was a Sunday fixture for the Beechy Under 13's Tornadoes in the Salford and Districts League. For this Division 1 match the Tornadoes travelled to play bottom of the table team Manchester Maccabi Lions. Billy Wadeson, Charlie Wallwork, Max O'Brien, Mathew Bennett, Josh Allen, Thomas Anderson, Henry Grimes and Man of the Match Ellis Kenny got the goals as the Tornadoes hit double figures.
In action on Tuesday 23rd May 2017 were Beechy Under 12's Storm (9v9) who played their penultimate Division 1 match. This evening game ended the Storm's title hopes when they lost 4-2 to Boothstown Juniors. Ellis Craven collected the Man of the Match Accolade and goals for Beechy were scored by Adam Rothwell and Damion Broughton. Then on Saturday the Under 12's Storm ended their eight month campaign at Beech Farm Playing Fields against Deans Sports. The match produced a glut of goals but it was Beechy who ended up on the wrong end of a 7-3 score line. On target for the Storm were Adam Rothwell, Taylor Share and Bailey Lloyd while Rome Hodson received the Man of the Match Award.
A depleted Under 10's Typhoon outfit struggled to deal with the hot weather conditions, the long grass and robust challenges from opponents Ladybridge Lions. In this Development Group Yellow Division encounter Freddie Latham scored a consolation goal for Beechy who missed a host of decent chances. Peter Ellis, Daniel Hesketh and Milonga Mututa competed manfully in defence and though Beechy suffered a defeat they could easily have won this game if they had taken those wasted chances.
In the Development Group Red Division the Under 10's Storm came up against a very good Ladybridge Hurricanes side. Despite losing the contest an under strength Beechy squad produced a spirited display and were rewarded with a couple of goals via Freddie Jackson and Riley Jones. Named Man of the Match was Harry Backhouse.
The Under 9's Storm's last game of the season was away to neighbours Moorside Rangers Purple in the Development Group Yellow Division. Beechy had just enough players available for this 7v7 fixture and in a closely fought contest James Cadwalader netted a consolation goal for the Storm. Noah O'Connor was the teams Star Player and the whole squad performed admirably throughout the match according to Team Manager Martin Belcher.
A superb all-round display by the Under 8's Hurricanes guaranteed a winning end to the season. At home to Deans Tigers in the Development Group Green Division Beechy secured a fully deserved victory. The goals came courtesy of Lexi Hiles, Lloyd Hiles, Joshua Whitehead, Daniel Teixiera and Daniel Robinson.
The season is over for the Under 7's Tornadoes who met Winton JFC in the Development Group Yellow Division. Goals from Daire Cox and Jack McMinn earned Beechy a comfortable win. Logan McFeely was voted Man of the Match for his non-stop running in the tropical conditions.
