The final games of the 2022/2023 season were played on Saturday 20th May 2023 when Beechy U/7's Thunder and U/11's Thunder completed their fixtures in the Salford and Districts League.
*Beechy U/7's THUNDER met Urmston Town Leopards a team they had beaten two weeks earlier but without a few key players Thunder lost this fifteen goal thriller. The first half proved to be frentic with the goals being swapped and though Urmston took the lead on three occasions each time Chase Sixsmith got Thunder back level with a superb first half hat-trick. Urmston took a strong foothold in the game before half time and the Beechy Boys ended the first half facing a three goal deficit. George Kelly Thunder's goalkeeper in the first half reverted to a more defensive role and brought an air of calmness at the back in the second half. After Urmston got their seventh goal finally came the Beechy fightback when Chase Sixsmith got his fourth goal of the game and Jude Bond was on target with a brace. Urmston scored again but Harry Wright took advantage of a mistake by the Leopards keeper and his goal gave Thunder the chance of at least forcing a draw but Beechy just ran out of time. The whole team shared the Man of the Match award.
*Producing a superb all-round performance the U/11's THUNDER (9v9) ended their season with a 6-2 home win over Stretford Victoria. Urged to make a fast start the Beechy Boys responded and playing some outstanding football Thunder took the lead when the ball was played over the Stretford defence and after beating the offside trap Kristian Georgiev added a fine finish. Stretford Victoria equalised via a stunning goal scored from outside the area but Thunder regained the lead when Ajab Fakeeh was fouled by the keeper in the area and Beechy's leading goalscorer calmly put Thunder 2-1 up from the resulting spot-kick. For the second time Stretford Victoria got back on level terms and the teams shared a 2-2 scoreline at the break.
In the second half it was all one-way traffic as Beechy really started to show their ability reducing their opponents to using the long ball tactic which was easily dealt with by Thunder's midfield and defence. The Stretford goalkeeper dropped the ball following a shot on target by Ajab Fakeeh who was quick to react he neeted the rebound to give Beechy a 3-2 lead. Ano Goora got Thunder's fourth goal when the ball came to him on the edge of the area and he fired it into the bottom corner of the net. Ajab Fakeeh achieved his hat-trick to make it 5-2 and Ajab completed the scoring to take his seasons tally to an incredible thirty eight goals.
