Manager Man of the Match Jose!
A great Sunny day and the Beechy Boys were well prepared following some rough weeks and losses with illnesses and missed training sessions. It showed from the off with Louis leading the charge from the front. Rapid Rene was back and quickly raised the excitement levels in the crowd with his quick turns and dribbling attacks! Angelo at the back quickly closing play down and passing to Louis who was in great form with his trademark dribbling and putting in a great cross but the Lions were well set out and defended well. The Lions put in some good play from the back but Reni and Louis were too quick and there was no stopping a shot from Louis to open the scoring.
The Teams were well matched and the tireless Rio was battling hard winning challenges, dribbling and selflessly finding his passes. Che was on and proved an instant threat closing down play and pulling off some great passing and came close to scoring on several occasions but the Lions keeper was having a good game and finding some time to pass it around but Bobby the Osprey was ever on his talons and ready for action. Along with the Weather the game and crowd were heating up and and Jose showing his hard work and attendance at training was now paying off with a great interception and then turning in to Lionel Messi dribbled around several players, in, out, in, out, with the roar of the crowd cheering him on louder and louder the closer he got to the goal and he breaks in to space and pings the ball in to the back of the net! Superb second goal.
Che coming close again he managed to keep his head up and try again as he was encouraged to do and it wasn't long before he got his goal with a great strike and the Che smile lighting up the field like the hot sun today! goal number three.. The Lions were not giving up and were a very good Team and managed to pull one back with Bobby having no chance of a save. Elliot using his speed and tenacity covering the back line and finding his passes extremely well. Bodie Morrison in action made a great interception to then push it in front and play a sublime pass through to Louis who he always seem to be able to find and Louis broke free with a great chance but the keeper pulled off a fine save.
Rio the Warrior King keeping play at bay in the middle of the park and skilfully taking on 2 players and was really unlucky not to get on the score sheet. Rio again in action and looking up to find Reni who managed a shot from long range but the keeper was prepared. Che on attack again stumbled on the edge of the area clashing with a defender and the cool headed Bodie swiftly moving in to space and like a Goshawk bursting from cover to catch it's prey strikes the ball perfectly first time from the edge of the box, the keeper manages a touch but the strike was to clean, the net rippled and the Wood Pigeons bursting from the Beechfield Trees clouding the sky at the roar of the crowd like the real Accipiter had arrived! A great and well deserved goal following some fine passing.
However, the game had some more action to give and Bobby having to pull off some fine saves with Elliot covering the pitch and closing down play and passing the ball out in fine style. The Lions with some last minute attacks had everybody beaten and the ball was on it' way in to the net only for a fireball come screaming across the pitch in the shape of Reni who from nowhere slides across the line and saves clears the ball with his boot to the astonishment of all including the ref! A great game and shows how well the boys can play following good training sessions and playing as a Team and how far they have come.
