In the Greater Manchester Womens League Beechfield United Ladies faced Division 1 leaders Salford United at home but were on the wrong end of a nine goal scoreline on 30/10/2022.

*Creating some good attacking play straight from the kick-off Beechy forced four successive throw-in's on the left wing. When the visitors found their rhythm Beechy keeper Alice Mosley was forced into action while both Joanna Szafranska and Julie Ward made well timed ball winning tackles. A neat move between Becky Gregory, Amie Barratt and Stacy Partridge created a chance for Aimee Armsden who's effort was just off target. Salford United opened the scoring in the 6th minute via their No12 and the visitors continued to move the ball around the artificial surface with pace and accuracy. Beechy worked hard to maintain a decent flow of attacks and went close to an equaliser before finding themselves 2-0 down after twelve minutes following a corner.

Salford United continued to focus a large bulk of their attacks down both wings forcing some solid defending from Megan Mirfield, Shauna Smith, Joanna and Julie. Beechy reduced the arrears when an inch perfect pass by Aimee Barratt sent Jess Lawson on a solo run and United's leading goalscorer coolly slotted the ball past the keeper via a decisive finish. Forcing more defending from Beechy's back four Salford United's young team rarely wasted possession and Alice Mosley remained the busiest of the two goalkeepers. One great Beechy move involving Stacy Partridge Becky Topping, Becky Gregory and Amie Barratt deserved a much better finish then minutes later a free kick taken by Jess Lawson rattled the crossbar.

Alice Mosley produced a brilliant one-handed save before slack Beechy defending gifted Salford United a 3-1 lead prior to half time. Beechy made three team changes during the break and Monique Pollard, Aimee Greenwood and Natasha Herity replaced Julie Ward, Becky Topping and Stacy Partridge at the start of the second half. Great defending by Joanna Szafranska, Megan Mirfield and Shauna Smith dealt with some positive attacking play from the visitors while left back Monique Pollard was also soon in action dealing with a tricky opponent. A crossfield pass by Monique to Amie Barratt started another Beechy move which ended when Natasha Herity sent a right footed low drive just off target.

Following another period when Beechy defended admirably they were rewarded with their second goal after a move down resulted in Aimee Greenwood slotting the ball low past the keeper at the second attempt. The game opened up more and after a throw-in an effort by Amie Barratt flew over the crossbar and from the goal kick Salford United launched an attack and winning a corner the visitors went 4-2 up. Beechy suddenly had to soak up some heavy pressure as Salford United dictated the pace of the game and the league leaders added their fifth goal in the 66th minute.

Natasha Herity (injury) and Aimee Armsden were replaced by Stacy Partridge and Becky Topping and creating numerous counter-attacks Beechy had a few half chances but their hopes of a late comeback faded when the visitors scored goal number six. Becky Gregory and Aimee Greenwood were involved in the move that won Beechy a free kick and after Stacy Partridge fired the ball at the target it bounced over the keeper and into the net to complete the scoring. Beechy's Player of the Match was Alice Mosley.
