POSTED: November 03 2017 15:04:35 By Keith Long - Sat Morn Team Seek Moral Boosting Victory

Searching for a moral boosting victory Beechfield United Saturday Morning Senior Team looked on course to win their home game with Brushes Rangers Spartak after taking a 2-0 lead. But Beechy couldn't sustain the momentum and were left feeling rather deflated after suffering a 3-2 defeat. Making the best possible start United took the lead in the eighth minute when a Brushes move broke down and after the ball was played forward to Adam Leech he displayed brilliant footwork getting past an opponent and his cross eventually reached Max Leonard who knocked the ball past the keeper. On the quarter-hour mark Beechy went 2-0 up and Adam Leech was involved again this time making a decisive run from the halfway line and finishing with a clinical low drive into the net. Five minutes later Brushes Spartak reduced the arrears when they won a free kick that took a deflection and though United keeper Kyle Walton got a hand to the ball he couldn't stop it from rolling into the net.

Beechy still held their one goal advantage at the break but two minutes after the restart they conceded a corner that led to a scramble in the area and a Brushes player fired the ball home for his teams equaliser. The match was evenly balanced at 2-2 though it was Brushes Spartak who eventually snatched the three points following a quick attack through the midfield and the ball was played between United's two central defenders leaving an easy finish for the visitors centre forward on sixty five minutes. Wes Pierce and Adam Leech shared the Man of the Match Award. On Saturday 4th November United are involved in the Manchester Amateur Cup. In the 3rd Round Beechy are away to Heywood St James Reserves.
