Making it six wins on the trot were Beechfield United Saturday Morning Senior Team who took over at the top of the Division 1 table on goal difference from Hazel Grove. The two teams meet on Saturday 10th November at Salford Sports Village and an exciting and hard fought match is forecast. Beechy's latest success came following their 4-1 away win over Manchester Celtic but United didn't play their best football until late in the contest. In windy conditions and on a poor pitch Beechy found it difficult to get their usual accurate passing game into gear but they were gifted the lead within three minutes. The Manchester Celtic keeper misjudged a shot from Wes Pierce and the ball rolled kindly for Max Leonard who easily put United 1-0 up. The game never flowed and despite Beechy continuing to create several more decent chances they were still only one goal ahead at half time.

As the second half progressed a similar pattern developed with United struggling to keep the ball as they pressed for a second goal and on fifty three minutes Manchester Celtic equalised. The hosts created a counter-attack down the left flank and their left winger got into a clear position then played the ball back for an onrushing forward who produced a clinical finish. Five minutes later Beechy regained the lead when a pinpoint pass from Wes Pierce found the unmarked Roy Owen and he fired the ball into the bottom left hand corner of the net from twenty yards. United continued to dominate the game and though they lacked the normal cutting-edge to their overall play added their third goal in the sixty ninth minute.

After chasing a pass sent out wide Max Leonard carved out a chance for himself and though his effort was partially blocked by a Celtic defender Dean Quinn was in the right place and netted the rebound. During the latter stages of the game Beechy started to play some really good attacking football and had a goal disallowed. United won a free kick and Roy Owen superbly chipped the ball over Celtic's defensive wall to Dean Quinn who finished the move with a great volley but the referee ruled out the goal for offside. Following a great move down the right wing involving John Bolton and Kyle Wray Beechy were rewarded with the fourth goal courtesy of Max Leonard who netted his second goal of the game as he completed the scoring via a neat finish from eight yards.
