POSTED: November 03 2025 14:50:55 By Keith Long - Junior/Youth Match Details 01/10/2025

Due to a lengthy spell of Heavy Rain a few games in the Junior/Youth Section were postponed due to waterlogged pitches but those games that were played produced some high scoring results.

**In the Manchester Youth Super League Beechy Under 12's LIGHTNING (9v9) were in action against top of Division 2 leaders PCFC Yellow. The Beechy Boys knew they faced a tough hours football because their opponents had won all their previous games by double figures. Due to illness and holidays Lightning were missing six players and though they were outclassed all the Beechy players never gave up. The boys showed great attitude and effort right up to the final whistle and Lightning Manager James Fillingham said he was so proud of all the boys and the team will stick together and keep fighting. Man of the Match was stand-in goalkeeper Sunay Shanahan who despite being a year younger and half the size of the opposition produced an heroic performance throught the game. *Well Done Sunay*

**Also in the Manchester Youth Super League the in-form Under 11's THUNDER (9v9) made it six games unbeaten following a brilliant win over Prestwich All Stars in the League Cup. In this star-studded all-round display there was lots of hard work plus a superb attitude from all the Beechy Boys. Highlight was goal of the game from Jack Steele who hit an unstoppable volley from way out into the top corner of the net. Also on target were Sonny Phillips, Harvey Cosgrove-Newby, Deo Wai-Wai and Henry Jones. The Man of the Match award was shared by Henry and Deo.

**A 6-2 winning scoreline didn't tell the story regarding a disjointed and lethargic performance from Beechy Under 18's HURRICANES. At home to Winton Wanderers the Beechy Boys played as if they were owed a win and not actually fully playing to earn it. Passes went astray and chances were not taken and that in turn gave Winton hope that they could actually win this Bolton Bury and District League Section A game. Glenn Tepa continued his rich goalscoring form with a speculative shot from the edge of the box. Team changes had to be made and immediately Seth Carroll scored two goals that calmed things down followed by a goal from Ethan Mangwiro. Winton reduced the arrears when after a cross-cum-shot the ball found it's way into the back of the net and rejuvenated the visitors. After the half time break the Hurricanes continued to be lethargic and wasteful and they were punished for it. Following much better play from Beechy Kane Wood went on a run into the box and he won the Hurricanes a penalty. Oliver Sheridan stepped up and made no mistake with the resulting spot-kick for Beechy's fifth goal before Ethan Olague completed the scoring courtesy of a cool finish.

**BEECHFIELD U7s LIGHTNING versus Swinton U7s Scorpions
Goals:
2 Kevin ⚽⚽
2 Samuel ⚽⚽

An emotional, action-packed game from start to finish — and one that showed true Beechfield spirit, even in defeat.

From the first whistle, the boys came out determined and hungry for goals. The breakthrough came early when Samuel delivered a clever pass to Kevin who finished coolly to give Beechfield the lead. Swinton reacted quickly, finding an equalizer.

Our second goal was one for the highlight reel — a kick-in from Samuel perfectly reached Kevin, who struck the ball at with a precise first shoot, scoring one of the best goals of the season! The crowd erupted, and our momentum grew. Yet Swinton refused to back down, using their pace and pressure to exploit small defensive gaps, eventually equalizing again before half time.

The second half began evenly, both sides trading chances in a thrilling back-and-forth. Harry was outstanding in goal, rushing out bravely to intercept dangerous plays and keep the team in it. But midway through the half, Swinton found their rhythm, taking the lead after a quick combinations in attack.

Still, Beechfield answered with brilliance — once again, Samuel turned his kick-ins into weapons, launching two incredible long shots that went all the way into the net! Two spectacular goals that brought us back level and showed his power and precision. However, in the final minutes, Swinton kept pushing and found space behind our tired defense, scoring twice more to secure their win.

Despite the result, the boys can hold their heads high — it was a game full of passion, creativity, and hard work. They left everything on the field and showed that this team never stops fighting.

MOM: I think all the boys plays very well, today MOM was Samuel and William.
Samuel collaborated in the 4 goals of the team with 2 goals and 2 assist and play very during all the match being a constant menace to the other team
William was really solid in defense pending all the time and recovering a lot of balls from the other team.

Team Reni, Louie, Ollie, Jaxx, Daley, Archie, Ezra, Jett.

The morning air was cool, but the atmosphere was red-hot as Beechfield Storm U8 faced off against their fierce rivals, Swinton Lions. These two sides know each other well — and the Storm were determined to show exactly who rules this rivalry…

Right from kick-off, Beechfield were electric. Louie set the tone with two sharp early strikes, bursting through the Lions defence and finishing with confidence. Ollie was on fire, dancing past defenders and bagging a quick first-half hat-trick. Jett added his trademark power and precision with two cracking goals of his own before Swinton finally nicked one back just before the break.

At halftime, the scoreboard read in Storm's favour, and the Storm were in complete command.

In the second half, the goals kept coming. Ollie struck again, Louie completed a fine personal performance with another, and Archie lit up the pitch with two brilliant goals that showed his energy and determination. Finally, Jaxx smashed home the twelfth to put the icing on a magnificent team display.

At the other end, Daley was rock-solid in goal — calm, brave, and alert whenever Swinton tried to break through. His saves kept the Lions at bay and gave the team the confidence to keep pushing forward. Reni worked tirelessly in midfield, breaking up play and linking passes, while Ezra showed great composure and vision, helping the Storm flow from defence to attack seamlessly.

It was a performance full of skill, teamwork, and pure passion — the kind of display that makes every parent and coach proud.

As for the Swinton Lions… they fought hard, but once again, the Storm swept through and left them chasing shadows. Seems no matter how loud the Lions roar, the Storm always brings the thunder. 🌩️😉,

On to the next round 👀 🏆
👏 Also a big thank you to Keith, Sean, Colin and Gary for being there today. Was class to see your support and to keep the peace.

**U9s Challenge Cup – Match Report
Date: 01.11.25
Venue: Stretford
Result: Manchester South End versus BEECHFIELD LIGHTNING

A Thrilling Encounter in Stretford! ⚡

It was another thrilling outing for the Beechfield Lightning boys as they edged a dramatic victory away to Manchester South End in the U9s Challenge Cup.

Lightning got off to a flying start, taking an early two-goal lead thanks to the lively partnership between Billy and Ronnie. Billy’s pace and precision on the wing proved devastating, delivering two superb crosses that Ronnie expertly finished to put Lightning firmly in control.

At the back, Bodie and Angelo were composed and confident, while Bobby commanded his area brilliantly on a tricky, unconventional pitch set up. Finley and Brayden worked tirelessly in both attack and defence, keeping the game balanced in Lightning’s favour.

Manchester South End fought back, pulling one back through a scrappy goal inside the box before equalising shortly after, catching Lightning momentarily off guard. But undeterred, the boys clicked back into gear, and once again Billy found Ronnie with another pinpoint delivery for a superbly taken goal to complete Ronnie’s hat-trick.

Elliot came on to reinforce the back line, reading the game well and making crucial interventions. The momentum continued as Finley linked up with Brayden, whose clever pass found Billy — and from outside the box, he unleashed a thunderous strike to make it 4–2 just before half time.

The second half began in the same attacking fashion. Billy switched to the right wing, continuing to torment the South End defence, and his dangerous cross found Brayden, who coolly slotted home to extend the lead.

Manchester South End pressed hard to respond, forcing Bobby into several outstanding saves — including close-range stops that kept Lightning ahead. Ralph made an impact off the bench, driving forward with intent and seeing a couple of promising efforts blocked.

Southend managed to pull one back, but Brayden, not content with a single goal, added his second after a scrappy scramble inside the area. The hosts, however, refused to give up, scoring two late goals — both surrounded by controversy. One was judged to have crossed the line, and another raised eyebrows over whether it fully went in.

Despite the tense finish, Beechfield Lightning held on to claim another impressive win — one they perhaps made harder than it needed to be, but a thoroughly entertaining contest from start to finish. ⚡

Man of the Match: Bobby — a commanding performance between the posts, pulling off several outstanding saves from both close range and distance. A true match-winner!

**BEECHFIELD UTD U12 TORNADOES versus 1-6 Deans Youth & Ladies

We faced the Deans today after an excellent performance in a narrow defeat last time out so the message was for the same performance today.

There was nothing in it at the start, Deans forced a good save from our stand in keeper Josh Green, before Grayson Evans had a great chance to score when played through from a throw but shot wide. Deans then got on top, taking the lead on the break and hitting the post shortly after. We didnt give up though and Grayson was played through and hauled down by the Deans keeper, penalty to Beechy. Up stepped our keeper Josh to make it 1-1. The game was finely balanced, with both sides having chances. Shortly before half time Deans again took the lead after a scramble, and made it 3-1 on the stroke of half time with a shot just squeezing in at the near post.

We changed keeper at half time, with Josh playing outfield and Jayden going in goal. Grayson again had a chance but shot just wide, before Deans hit the post for a 2nd time. The game was in the balance and the next goal would be key, unfortunately it went to Deans after a mix up at the back for Beechy. For 5 minutes our heads dropped before we rallied, Ryan Cordingly had a shot cleared off the line before Deans scored a 5th goal. Still we attacked, Harry Myddelton forcing a good save, and Grayson again going close, but Deans always looked a threat exploiting gaps at the back as we pushed forward, some excellent saves from Jayden keeping the score down. We gifted the Deans a 6th at the end after a mix up from a corner. Final score 1-6.

A tough day at the office, Deans deserved the win but we certainly should have scored more ourselves today.

Player of the match was between 3. Aidan Thompson was tenacious throughout in defence and midfield roles. Goalscoring first half keeper Josh Green made some great saves in the first half, scored a pen and was at the heart of everything we created when outfield 2nd half. But Player of the Match went to Jayden Lowe who was magnificent defensively in the first half and did some outstanding saves as keeper in the 2nd.

Unlucky team, we go again next week.

**Match report - BEECHFIELD STORM U12's v Coach Hene Stars.

First game of the season on Astro on the back of a great run Beechy hosted another new team to the league on Coach Hene Stars.

The first half was an even affair both teams knocking on the door and Beechy made one of their chances count when Ismail broke the offside trap to smash in the opener. The game was largely played through midfield after that, both teams struggling with the bounce and speed of the play which didn’t lend itself to a quality game but a war in midfield. The Beechy boys put themselves about and missed two glorious chances to extend the lead and we were left to rue the missed chances as Coach Hene levelled to go in 1-1 at half time.

The team talk was short but focussed on getting the ball down and playing football.

Into the second half and it was more of the same however Beechy weee struggling to get control of the midfield and Coach Hene were crating a few half chances, they then scored a great goal from outside the box to go 2-1 up. They added a third midway through the half, Beechy failed to clear their lines and they poked in to go 3-1 up. The Beechy Boys worked hard to get back into the game and finally got the breakthrough as Ismail didn’t give up on a long ball and slotted home for 3-2. With only minutes to spare the boys piled the pressure on and one last chance fell to Ismail who hit the side netting from a right angle.

That’s how the game finished, it wasn’t our best game today, we were missing a few key players and we struggled to get our passing game going but we will dust ourselves off and come again.

Man of the Match today was Jay, he pulled off a couple of great saves and was assured in goal.
