- Junior Section Match Details 2nd/4th November 2023
*Highlight of the weekend 4th & 5th November 2023 was a first win of the season in the East Manchester Junior League for Beechfield United Under 15's Thunder.
*The Under 15's THUNDER were at home against Reddish North End Greens in Division 3 and with this being the first time the teams had met nobody knew what to expect. Creating some early pressure Reddish took the lead with a well worked goal but Beechy quickly responed and nearly equalised after a superb solo run by Rudolf Yeboah who's effort rattled the crossbar. For most of the first half Thunder were second best and still 1-0 down at the break but capable of much better in the second half. Making a bright start in the second period Beechy were rewarded when they drew level via J.J.Lowery who superbly lobbed the ball over the keeper following great work by Pedro Miguel-Santos. The goal gave Thunder a real boost and it wasn't too long before J.J. and Pedro combined again and the latter dispatched the ball into the bottom corner of the net to put Beechy 2-1 up. After withstanding an extended period of pressure Thunder scored what proved to be a guaranteed winning goal when they won a free kick on the halfway line and Oliver Nangle floated the ball to the far post where J.J.Lowery supplied another beautiful finish as he completed the scoring.
*Beechy Under 7's STORM had a Thursday evening mini-soccer league game with Urmston Panthers. Looking to bounce back after a previous defeat Storm came up against a very strong Panthers side who from a free kick opened the scoring. Due to a couple of defensive lapses Beechy found themselves three goals down despite having played some very good football. After missing a number of chances Storm reduced the arrears when folowing a good passage of play goal poacher Bryce Carroll scored with a cool accurate finish. The second half was basically all Beechy who produced some fantastic passing football though unfortunately without making a breakthrough however Charlie Sykes who was left unmarked after receiving the ball added a smart finish for Storm's second goal. The Urmston keeper created a fantastic display to deny 1 on 1's with Ralph Cassidy, Henry Charles and Charlie while at the other end of the pitch a solid number of challenges by Alfie Robinson stopped several Urmston attacks. A wayward pass in the dying minutes from a goal kick gifted Urmston another goal. Voted by the players Isaiah Austins was named Man of the Match for his fantastic goalkeeping performance in the first half and midfield display in the second half.
*Having never won a match when playing on an Astroturf Pitch previously the challenge was set for the Under 8's THUNDER in their Red Group away game against Urmston Predators. On a big pitch the first half on paper looked easier than it was when Chase Sixsmith netted an excellent hat-trick, his first goal came via a Jude Bond cross followed by two close range finishes. But Urmston who hit the crossbar with one effort plus forcing some great saves from Thunder's goalkeeper got a goal back on the stroke of half time. The teams exchanged goals in the second half when Urmston scored twice only for Harrison Spencer to reply both times with powerful strikes. Urmston scored again and the game was on a knife-edge until the closing moments when Harrison and George Kelly combined. Firstly George set-up Harrison who completed his hat-trick then Harrison returned the favour and George was on target with Beechy's seventh and final goal of the game. Grayson Owen was Thunder's Man of the Match and wherever he was in defence on the pitch the team looked far more comfortable plus he made some great forward runs.
*There was a change of venue for the Challenge Cup tie between the Under 8's STORM and JBAS Alax. At the Goals Soccer Centre in Cheetham Hill Beeechy were looking for a first win of the season in the Salford and Districts Junior League. Storm's squad for the game was Rocky Linehan, Corey Davies, Alfie Garner, Jude Aimson, Calvin Hunter, Jacob McLoughlin and Charlie Schofield.
*For their second game in the top Division (Red Group) Beechy Under 10's STORM were away to Hindsford Juniors probably the best team at Under 10's level in the Salford and Districts League. The Beechy Boys knew they faced a tough fifty minutes but they started the game well and despite a few chances there were no goals midway through the first half. But a momentary lapse in defence saw Storm concede a soft goal giving Hindsford the lead and the hosts quality told when scored two more goals before the break. In the second half Beechy started on the front foot and had a few decent chances but the difference is the top teams put their chances away and Hindsford added two quick fire goals to hold a five goal lead. Storm's players never let their heads go down as they kept battling and Beechy pulled a goal back after great work by Man of the Match Kobe Glass who won a free kick. Max Schofield stepped up and from the dead ball situation confidently fired the ball home then shortly after following some neat passing football the ball found Max in the middle of the pitch and he took one touch before hammering it into the net for Storm's second goal. Beechy kept pushing forward in search of more goals and were unluckly on a few occasions but as they gambled conceded two more goals. This was a really good all-round team effort against their high level opponents despite what seemed like a wide scoreline.
*In their Salford and Districts Junior League Division 1 home game with St Johns (Chorlton) the Under 15's HURRICANES won a fourteen goal thriller 9-5. Beechy had a full strength squad available and after dominating the early part of the game raced into a 4-0 lead at half time. St Johns made a bright start in the second half and pulled a goal back but the Hurricanes quickly clicked into gear and scored a fifth goal. The visitors made it 5-2 and the goals continued to flow as Beechy added number six though St Johns replied with their third goal as the fast action moved rapidly from end to end. Following more great attacking play the Hurricanes went 7-3 up but once again the visitors reduced the arrears before Beechy hit goals eight and nine then in what had been a crazy second half St Johns completed the scoring. Goalscorers for the Hurricanes were Owen Hogben (2) Oliver Nangle (2) Henry Errington (2) Rafael Djacy, Pedro Dos-Santos plus an own goal. Voted Man of the Match was Zach Davies.
