Also in the Bolton Bury and District League the Under 15's Tornadoes were away against top of Section C outfit Winton JFC. This was a scrappy game throughout and Beechy who were 2-0 down at half time suffered a 3-1 defeat. On target with the Tornadoes consolation goal was Mathew Bennett who scored from the penalty spot.
United's Under 15's Sunday team lost for the first time this season following their Division 4 League Cup tie with Sale Communities Falcons. Drawn away for this 1st round match United at half time were leading 3-1 and in cruise control but in a poor second half somehow conceded four goals and lost 5-3. Mathew Bennett, Fearnley Davies and Ellis Kenny got the goals and named Man of the Match was Jono Devine.
Playing their first Salford and District League game in a month were Beechy Under 14's Storm who met Deans Youth Tigers in the Challenge Tournament. A 6-3 home win extended the Storm's unbeaten run in league and cup fixtures to five games. Man of the Match Archie Cooper (4) Ben Garlick and Adam Rothwell scored the goals.
Enduring a frustrating seventy minutes in their North Bury Junior League home game with Whitworth Valley were the Under 14's Thunder. Despite taking the lead through Prince Idusuyi and continuing to create the better chances Thunder lost 2-1 due to some poor finishing in this Championship Division fixture.
The Under 14's Tornadoes who also play in the North Bury Junior Football League were themselves guilty of failing to convert their chances. At Bolton Road the Tornadoes were at home to Littleborough Stripes in Division 2 and Beechy who missed two penalties ended up on the wrong end of a 5-0 score line.
Against a strong Bolton County Dynamos outfit the Under 13's Storm quickly found themselves trailing 2-0 but Beechy produced a positive response and dominating this Section C match reduced the arrears via Leo Barrett who found the bottom corner of the net with an accurate finish. In the second half the conditions favoured Bolton County as the wind played a major part in the game. Jayden Okoli equalised for the Storm following some good work from Man of the Match Leo Barrett but the Dynamos suddenly started to dominate the match and added four more goals. The Beechy lads continued to work hard but couldn't take advantage of what chances were on offer and lost this Bolton Bury and District League game 6-2.
In their Challenge Tournament home game against Manchester Maccabi Broughton the Under 13's Tornadoes wasted numerous chances in the first half and they trailed 3-1. Showing greater motivation during the second period Beechy responded superbly and thanks to some great passing moves got the score back to 3-3 but the Tornadoes couldn't find a match winning goal in the final minutes so the teams were faced with taking penalties. Unfortunately Beechy lost the shoot-out 3-2 with some great saves from keeper Lewis Wallis during the spot-kick decider. Goal scorers for Beechy in normal time were Bradley Oliver, Man of the Match Theo Valentine and Xander Effio.
Booking their place in the 2nd Round of the Challenge Tournament were Beechy Under 12's Typhoon (9v9) who celebrated their first win of the season. Starting this away tie as underdogs Typhoon recovered from conceding an early goal to beat opponents De La Salle Reds in fine style. This was a brilliant all-round performance so the whole team shared the Man of the Match award. Goals from Ronan Mullan (2) Cole Winstanley, Jamie Withington and Sonny O'Brien guaranteed Beechy a fully deserved 5-3 victory.
Following a match that produced thirteen goals the Under 12's Lightning (9v9) saw their four game unbeaten run come to an end. At home to Winton Gladiators in the Challenge Tournament four goals from Player of the Match Jake Barrington and one by Kyle Stafford were just not enough to save Beechy from an 8-5 defeat.
Playing at home for the third successive Saturday were the Under 11's Tornadoes (9v9) and Beechy overcame a dogged and resilient Swinton Panthers side to win this Challenge Tournament tie. Made to work hard by their opponents the Tornadoes free flowing football was restricted in the first half. Sam Rowbottom gave Beechy the lead with a neat finish but Swinton Panthers found an equaliser making it an evenly balanced contest until leading goal scorer Finlay Fairhurst netted twice to put the Tornadoes two goals clear at half time. Beechy's overall performance improved after the break but they missed several chances plus the Swinton Panthers keeper made some great saves in an inspired display. But eventually the Tornadoes added a fourth goal when Owen Hogben delivered a cross from the right wing and Michael Walsh fired the ball home to ease the tension. Some resolute defending from Charlie Chute, Aiden Lawton and Man of the Match Ashley Tonge during the last few minutes dealt with some late pressure from the Panthers.
Man of the Match Harrison Tinald was on target twice as the Under 11's Hurricanes (9v9) raced into a two goal lead against Barr Hill Cubs. But after a few substitutions Beechy lost their grip on the game and missed three clear cut chances plus a penalty that led to a heavy defeat in the Challenge Tournament.
Beechy Under 10's Lightning made it through to the 2nd Round of the Challenge Tournament after a penalty-shoot out with Monton Sports Dragons and the Beechy boys had two reasons to celebrate because this was their first win of the season. Following a dominant first half performance Lightning held a three goal lead at the break but the Dragons got back level and Beechy faced a nervy end to normal time. There were some excellent spot-kicks form both sides and another great display by Lightning goalie Jake Lewis. Joint Man of the Match went to Jai Devani-White for two goals plus a penalty and Sean Cosgrove who gave an outstanding performance as wing back. Also credit to Charlie Bell for a superb third Beechy goal.
Showing real determination all over the pitch were the Under 10's Hurricanes who played some great football during their Challenge Tournament away game at Barr Hill Hearts. Delighted Beechy Manager Ben Robinson and Assistant Glenn Whitehead were extremely proud of the players for their performance against a very good Barr Hill team. The Hurricanes Man of the Match was Amaan Khan and on target with the goals were Alfie Rostron who scored five and Daniel Robinson.
Monton Sports were the Under 10's Tornadoes opponents in the Challenge Tournament and at the end of normal time the teams shared six goals but Beechy lost the penalty shoot-out. In a really good Tornadoes display Beechy's goals not including penalties came via Ebosele Oguname, Ethan Harris and Matty Cox. Voted the teams Star Player was Charlie Backhouse.
Getting a taste of cup-tie football were the Under 9's Thunder players. Beechy were at home to Winton Devils but they went a goal against the run of play in this Challenge Tournament fixture then the visitors scored a quick second goal. Man of the Match Karell Thomas produced a Maradona like run and was fouled in the area but the Winton keeper saved Karell's penalty. After more good football from Thunder in the second half they were rewarded when Harry Norcross scored the teams first ever goal. Special mention to PJ Scott for a great defensive display and Caleb Horrocks who made several outstanding saves.
A brilliant performance from start to finish by the Under 9's Tornadoes earned them a fully deserved Challenge Tournament away won over Winton Wanderers Spartans. The hosts had no answer to the Tornadoes pace and power as Beechy raced into a four goal lead. Winton Wanderers reduced the arrears after half time but the Tornadoes stepped up a gear and added another four goals. Man of the Match went to keeper Jack Lee and goals for Beechy were netted by Stewart Kay, Josh Beddows and Logan McFeely plus an own goal.
Despite a fantastic all-round performance in their Challenge Tournament home game against FC Bridgewater the Under 9's Lightning boys lost the match. In what was basically an evenly balanced tie Beechy conceded a few late goals. Man of the Match Oscar Mather scored Lightning's only goal.
A goal from Ryden Coward was the only reward for Beechy Under 8's Storm in their home game with De La Salle Reds and the final result didn't do justice to the Storm's overall performance. The boys gave 100% commitment and were denied more goals due to the in-form De La Salle keeper. Well done to Callum Norris for a much deserved Man of the Match award.
At Beech Farm on Sunday morning Beechy Under 7's met South Manchester Sports and whilst in the main the teams were equal and it was a competitive game the opposition had a star striker in their side. Overall Beechy are improving every game showing a good shape and playing some good football. Jacob Wood got two goals courtesy of close range finishes and Aiden Gradwell was also on target with a classy finish from the edge of the area.
